"Is there anyone who would be a better or worse choice?" she asks "I don't want to suggest insult in the choice."

"Whoever you deem is best"

"Your people have proven honest with us"

"How about Sir Jack?"

"I would welcome him then" A nod

Jessica finds someone to get Sir Jack.

Sir Jack shows up "Countess. You needed me?"

"Sir, do you have time to walk with Otem? We're on a heightened stance for Nunnehi attack, recent developments... anyway, he's going to talk with his people about it and I want him to get there safely."

"No problem, Countess. " His duster flutters like a living thing as it seems to gain armored weight

"My thanks, Sir Jack" Otem says

"Thank you. Otem, I look forward to hearing what your people say. Again, a standing offer to visit and stay and talk."

Otem nods "I shall see what we can do. I suggest you also travel with escort if you go out, Countess"

And he and Sir Jack withdraw

"Well." she mutters "Guess I asked for that."

"You might have " Bevara declares. The Gwydion troubadour bowing

She scrubs her face for a moment, ordering her thoughts, and looks up as Bevara speaks.

"No, I guess I did." she agrees "What can I do for you?"

"As a troubadour, it's partly my job to play music to soothe my liege's troubled brow. I wanted to offer my services"

"Um. Thank you, Bevara. You think my brow is troubled?"

"Are you troubled?" She asks

"Well, sure, there's always something going on. The mainland Nunnehi are stepping up their activities, we have Chupacabra being run -into- the city and freaking our satyrs out, I need to step up patrols around the County and get word back from the Freeholders... yeah."

A nod "Then let me ease your burdens."

"I'm sure we can put you on a patrol..." she says dryly.

The Gwydion arches a brow "Are you trying to insult me, Countess?"

"A joke, Bevara, a joke." she sighs "Not sure I could properly appreciate or do justice to your talents right now."

"If you wish me to patrol, I will. I'm still a Gwydion. I just at times feel my musical talents are underutilized"

"And I'm sorry for that." she say sincerely "Maybe we can set up some regular performance nights. What do you think about a tour around the County?"

"If you are not going to be in the audience for them, it sounds a bit like banishment, or at least getting me out of your hair"

"Well, maybe not for the tour this time but for the performances here I will absolutely attend."

"Or, no tour if you'd rather not go."

"I would prefer to be close in time of tension" She says

"And forgive my prickliness..." Bevera adds "But it is vexing to feel useless"

"I'm sorry, Bevera." she repeats "Will you set up a schedule for performances here? And... can you network with other Freehold's troubadours? Make sure all Freeholders are so well served as I am?"

"Fine. I'll schedule for my first performance. Now. Audiance of you and whoever. So what would you have played?"

She rubs the base of her horns. "I... I don't know. You see me troubled, you pick the tune."

"Mmm " And she starts to play, a celtic tune the Countess can't quite name , but it is soothing

Jessica dutifully stands and listens.

It's just three songs, and while they are soothing, she can if she prefers, see this as a duty. 😉 Or she can enjoy it. her choice

She doesn't -hate- it. She doesn't want to disregard, frustrate, or even disappoint Bevera. The songs are pleasant. She does what she can to enjoy them.

Bevera finishes up "Thank you, your excellency. I hope you enjoyed?"

"I did, thank you."
