Zane frowns 'Uh. I know she's your friend, but right now they're blocking any woman away from her. ... and..." A pause "Ah.. "He blinks

And is staring at Zara's feet

“What is it?” Piper is carefully wrapping up the box for the trod trip.

"Zane?"

“Oh. No.. she doesn’t want to see any females.” An upset frown. “Even friends.”

"Feh, I am sluagh... Earl aside, we are not..."

“She seemed to worry that she’d hurt someone. And it stressed her the hell out to the point of shoving me out the door.”

"You're a slaugh without a shadow" He mutters

"Pardon?"

A blink, confused.

She looks down at her feet.

And if they look down, they notice, now that Zara's in the hall's light.. she has no shadow

“What does it mean?” She whispers.

"That destroying a treasure has consequences..."

"Maybe it's visting a girl name Wendy?"

“I should go... time is not on our side.”

"Yeah... you handle this, Piper. She likes you ..relates"

A nod, and she clips back to the trods for the third time, hoping to slip out across the silver path, through the lodge and over to the barn without notice.

"Feh. And tis folly to soothsay oneself..."

"Want me to help you with your shadow thing?" Zane says "I am not great but I can omen"

Zane grins "Relax. I don't SUCK either" He does glance over the door Piper went through "And this will take my mind off some things. "

"I know. But... privacy, aye?"

"But you are a student of my teacher. So."

"This room seems private for now but..." He puts the chair against the door to block it. "And yeah, Mountain Emmit would have my wooly butt in a sling I broke a trust with you over something so personal." He pulls out some cards, not tarot, jjust normal ones

"You have been doing quite well. My chicanery is... well.. not my strongest art, and for you it is Art."

"Well, I had a head start thanks to my dad" Zane says shuffling cards "He's a master of it... but I'm learning that illusion can help peopole find truths. It shouldn't be done too casually. Soothsay is coming along slower but I hope to tattletale soon.. and there's.. well, another art" and he says "Pick one please"

An eyebrow.

She takes a card. "Another art?"

"Just lay that flat, and face down while I shuffle what's left." He works on three patterns, three seperate decks as the bunk continues "And another art. One I don't think anyone else at Rivervale has"

She lays the card flat, but her attention is engaged on the satyr.

"A'times, that man is as covert as.. as... as a sluagh."

And then he lays three rows, bending and slides them closer... closer to the card she sat down, it becomes the bridge, the center piece of the triskelion

"Who the Mountain? I think it's where all his trollish silence goes"

"Feh."

"Besides, when I hit grump town, and may it be a long while yet, you can bet I'll have the young students whatever their kith wondering just what dark forces I have lain with or at least had over for a poker night. " And he flips the center card up and blinks "Ace of Spades? What is with sluagh and spades?" And the bunk goes off

"For digging the graves, nu?"

And the cantrip flows. the table .. THUMPS and Zane goes 'whoa'

"This.. treasure you broke..what was it?"

Zara sways a little, sinuous as a snake, waiting.

"Twas Tantalus' cane, a treasure of chicanery - one that he used to dark ends."

"Tied to lust I'm guessing" He's not really guessing but wants confirmation
