Adam has seen Piper play a number of times, and she generally makes it look effortless! However, right now as she perches in the window, poringover a messy stack of papers, making infinitely small adjustments, taking a note, plucking a string, taking a note again, erasing, frowning, and reading over what actually looks similar to math formulae - this actually looks like work.

He watches it almost like a cat; they love work and could watch it all day. Of course, he's got three or four books on the bed with him; thin ones, but they don't seem to have pictures.

And the text is -small-.

She occasionally glances up and over to him, not distracted by any particular sound, but just... checking? And if she catches his eye at such a time, she'll give him a smile, before returning to her notes for a bit longer. Occasional moment of percussion as she drums her fingers lightly on the guitar, trying to make sense of a bit of music.

A disconsolate sigh. "There is a LOT of French in this stuff...."

She chuckles and shoves some of her paper aside. "And there's a lot of math in this. Converting a song made for electric guitar and a full band to acoustic, even without altering the underlying style or theme, it gets tricky."

Adam looks up with a head tilt. "I thought you didn't like math."

She frowns. "I don't... but this is different. This isn't just, random sums for no reason or to fill an accounting spreadsheet. This has meaning..."

A slow grin. "Yeah. I get that. It was easier to learn geometry on Sally Mae's bra."

"I mean, we have counting, rhythm, intervals, time signatures... not to mention overtone, pitch, and symbol notation..." She rubs her forehead. "Don't tell Vali I'm doing math on purpose. I don't think I can stand that smirk."

"Awww....." He slides off the bed and comes over, offering to rub her shoulders "I won't."

"But." She smiles up at him, leaning back into his hands. "I think I know what song I'll sing. Though I reserve the right to a game-time substitution if the mood is wrong. What about you? Find any gems in the tome of ages over there?"

Oh he DID learn a few things at EarthRunes about how to relax and ease tensions.....

"It's... I'm confused. So I figure I'm missing something and I'll find it eventually, right?"

"Mmm! Yeah, your thumb, right there." She is appreciative as he works his fingers on a spot of tension where he might not have known how to work before.

"We should go for a walk, what's the point of Tijuana if we're just inside all day!"

His thumb, yes, RIGHT there....

"Yeah! Whenever you're ready."

She let's him work on the spot for another few moments, then chuckles. "We'd better go, otherwise I'm gonna melt and not want to leave..."

He applies pressure to those points he's founds, and kisses her hair. "And?"

"And there are things we can do here, or things we can do anywhere else..." She laughs.

"MMm.... you hear about that kind of thing in Tijuana...."

"I want to go out in the suuuun. Maybe we can find somewhere to get sun more more of our skin, though?" She offers a compromise.

"You want the sun? Let's go! "

And out they go. (risking being murdered or mugged in one of the most dangerous cities in the world)

(Whatever!)

For Piper, this is like some parts of California... for Adam? It's a metropolis quite unlike those cities he knows

Poverty shows it's ugly head in cracked pavement, vandalism, and squalor... and yet, there's also friendly faces here and there, and some of that vandalism .. is art!

And to enchanted eyes, the eyes of fae, it shines brighter still....

chimerical streamers and scaffolding hang about here and there in defiance of the autumn decay.

Piper is excited, but somewhat street smart. She's busked in San Fran and played a few shows in underground clubs in LA - no gangbanger, certainly, but she's not entirely a babe in the woods in the big city.

"I wonder if it's Jessica's folk making the Phoenix art, or if just having the freehold and so many affiliated fae around here just inspires the dreamers ambiantly... "

Stopping to pose by a mural that has a pair of spreading wings, so that Adam can snap a picture of her in front, so that it looks like they spring from her shoulders.

"Pardon?" One fellow says "I can hold the camera and get you together huh?" A grin from a thin local.

She gives him a grin. "And you can keep the camera, hm?" Friendly enough, but clear that she knows the scam. "I think I'll take a selfie instead."

The guy curses in Spanish and wanders off.

She moves over to Adam, and sides her hand into his back pocket with a grin.

And with only a little copping of a feel, moves his wallet to the front pocket.

A wise move.

As they move by they see other locals... who are , as the majority often is in any place, decently minding their own business.

Sure enough, there's a food truck with a large cheeseburger on it.

She sniffs the air and reads the side - not really expecting any veggie options. But maybe fries?

Oh there are Fries. A figure peeks with a cowboy hat peeks out "Hey Ya'll, looking for the exotic taste of El Norte?"

Given how the city is like..a stone's throw from 'El Norte' there is so much wrong with this set up

But there he is. Sounding like John Boy from the Waltons, wearing a hat better suited to a John Wayne movie.

As they walked, Piper had slide her hand companionably back into that back pocket. She nudges Adam now. "Hungry?"

"Mmm... yeah!"
