The Varich is new to these lands, and he is not of the Sunkissed waves. The Graybeard moves with dignity

ALong his side is a fae hound, on a leash. Well, fae hound puppy.

The Redcap looks at him, "Herald here. WHo are you whaddya want?"

"Sir Sergei ap Varich, Hound Master of Earth Runes, requesting a moment with the Countess." The Varich says, while the dog looks up and wags her tail

Phobos nods, and turns around and does his duty "SER SERGEI OF EARTHRUNES WANTING TO TALK WITH THE FLAME FREE!"

Word is passed back that Jessica is available in the Balefire chamber.

And Sir Sergei is lead there and bows. He is dressed formally, the puppy is, well, too adorable to be formal.

Jessica rises and nods. "Sir... Sergei? Welcome, what brings you here?"

"I came here with a gift, Countess. You do not know me, and Earth Runes is far from here, but it is told to me you have no fae hounds here. I offer this young one to be your companion, and perhaps grow to greater use to your hold." And he lets the dog go forward abit. She is a fae hound and enchanted... .and under enchantment, her fur is even bluer and her eyes shine

"I, um, thank you...... and.... um, so does Renaissance. Sir." Nonplussed, she crouches to invite the puppy to approach.

The puppy lights up and ambles forward tail wagging , a bit of jump

Jessica watches him approach, offers her hand to him.

Oh the puppy almost climbs into her arms from there!

The leash pulls him up a bit short, "Ahem. Manners" And the puppy looks.. adorkably contrite before losing patience and licking her fingers

"What is his...or her... name?"

"Lazuli is what we have been calling him, for the gemstone of blue, but you may change his name as suits you, a few weeks of using it consistently and he will attune to it, and you." Sergei offers her the leash

"That's a good name for him." She takes the leash. "Can we offer you refreshment and hospitality?"

And suddenly The Countess has a bouncy boy of playful cuddliness who can't decide if he wants to romp with her or cuddle!

"Ok, ok...." she pet-wrestles him.

"I fear I can not stay long, duties to attend to. I have a book with advice on the care and rearing of great danes I will leave here if you are not insulted by it? It applies to mortal dogs, fae hounds are, as you know, much smarter. I am glad you are pleased with him?"

"He is adorable, and will be a worthy addition to our County...." she rises, leaving Lazuli to worry her laces. ".... but I have to wonder what prompted it."

"In part, a limitation on our kennels. " he answers, and seems not to notice that Lazuli is rapidly forgetting to be well behaved and focused on dignity, for the puppy is indeed pulling "A very sad story I'm afraid that, some charity was involved on my part not to you, but to the dogs mother whose owner had been slain."

"That is unfortunate. My condolances."

Lazuli discovers he likes to the taste of footwear! Why had trainer not told him of this? The texture, the smell, it's perfect. Surely nothing bad will come of this fascination

"Yes, we have limits so I am giving up the litter to different locales that might be good homes. Yours was suggested for one."

"By.....?"

"The one who suggested asked to remain anonymous, but you are ruler here. If you insist, I will obey, of course" A bow

Jessica considers this. "I.... think I would like to know."

"Captain Waveborne recommended you." He says with a bow

Jessica nods. "I suspected. Please let her know that I was appreciative. Unless you wish to tell her, I do not mind protecting her 'anonymity' in this."

"I will let her know, pardon, I have a few more pups to pass on to good homes. Countess, your hold is amazing. Perhaps another time when I am not on a task, I might visit for my own sake, and to check on Lazuli?"

"You would be welcome, Sir."

A nod though he does not smile, not being the sort that does that then he looks to Lazuli, "Lazuli, you will obey your new master as you did me. You will do credit to your line and honor to your dam. Good boy?"

The little puppy stands at attention

"Good boy," The Varich says, then bows to the countess, and withdraws

Jessica looks down at the pup, still a bit off-balance.

And Lazul bounds at her leg again. THUMP THUMP THUMP goes the tail.

Phobos looks over, "Aint' you supposed to crop the the ears for that breed?"

"We're not cropping any ears." She says firmly.

Phobos grunts "Okay, boss"

Lazuli gives his new two legger a lick on a low hanging hand for that! He's not sure what 'CROPPING' Is, but it sounds like something for plantlife, not delicate puppy ears

"Um." Now the thought occurs What do I do with him?

Great Danes get Huge, don't they? And FAE Great Danes, maybe larger. Sure, the pupy will fit in her apartment NOW but argh

There is the book on training Great Danes that reads 'So you've got yourself a Great Dane , huh?'

She gestures with it. "Ok, um, so.... come with me, Lazuli...." She leads the pup out into what has become a stable of sorts. The FyreMare (of missing/lost name?) is there, along with a few other animals.

The horse greets her, "Oh my goodness, is that a dog?"

"For now." Dryly. "He will grow to be very large.

"Clearly" Sinder says "Wait, you're not living him with me?"
