This city is violent, often poor, and some would say wicked, but it also has good folks, good moments, and yes, it appears this close to Christmas SOMEONE has gotten the idea of cheering the kids up. Street dogs bound out around fuddled to look like reigndeer

Jessica makes a mental note that if the benefactor is Fae, they should be rewarded.

and toys... oh these aren't cantrips. Some of the poorest kids are getting toy before the holdiay. Mostly hand crafted, but still

A mugging in an alley.

Jessica hefts her mail and heads into the alley, her expression a warning all on its own.

The man with the knife turns, he hadn't stabbed anyone.. yet, he holds it up warningly

The couple he was threatening appear to be tourists

"You can walk away or get carried." She offers. "It's Christmas."

the man eyes the odds, three on one, and one opf them a big gringa.. he curses , spits and runs

Jessica nods. "Hello folks, sorry about that. Where are you heading?"

"Straight to the airport and home" the woman says

The man says "It's okay, w're good. Actually we are hoping to find the Holiday Inn, but our GPS died and..."

"I can help with either one."

They talk and then "HOliday inn please. Can..we pay you for your trouble?"

"It's the holidays, folks; on me. This way." And she goes with them to the hotel.

The good deed leads her to getting to know Sandy and Herb, nice folks... Sandy is a quarter Mexican and thought it would be nice to visit Mexico as she's lived most of her life in Michigan

"So we were warned about the city but i thought 'oh heritage' and now .. now I want to head back to Lansing"

"Whatever you folks think is best."Outside the hotel. "You guys ok from here?"

"Thanks to you, you sure we can't repay you in some way, buy you dinner or ..something?" Herb asks

Jess smiles slightly. "Pay it forward."

"Be kind to the strangers among you."

"You are just too nice," Sandy says, then looks to Herb, "You know who'd love her? Your brother.... he would just..."

"Are you really match making across the border?" Her husband asks

The woman blushes, "Little bit."

"I'm.... I'm fine, folks. Happy Holidays." She waves and heads off.

But as she left she did hear them say something about paying it forward so yay?

"I was told to tell you not to worry. NObody died' she nods

"Dil is going to live" She says assured "So is okay"
