It took more than an hour, but the seelie aspects have definitely grown... oh there's still fire here, beyond the bale, but the rough and tumble nature of the place, the contained savagery, has yielded to a contest of champions, honorable warriors and crowds who admire the skill. Even the decor has shifted... spring symbols, albeit of mostly mezo amerifcan style rather than classic celt.

Jessica makes her way towards the Balefire, curious about any sense of change in it.

It definitely feels more Spring and Summer, a descriptor hard to explain if one isn't fae. Rather than the hungry lashinbg it often ddoes along it's high position, it pulses more steadily, almost iwth more dignity

Jessica watches the Flames with appreciation. "Hey there. Merry Beltaine, Lady Balefire."

It roars in greeting., Still a bit LOUD

She can't help but chuckle. "I know. It's a lot." She squats down on her haunches, and if anyone knew they'd see Brekke in that pose. "Still. Glad you're with us. Hope you'll stay."

It crackles perhaps in response

Jessica rests a hand on whatever passes for the hearth or fire-ring, here.

Well, the balefire is actually elevatated above mostly, but the chains leading up to it ..yes

A small smile as her hand rests on the chains.

"You wouldn't be thinking of a take over would you?" Shard says but there's no malice in it

"No." Quietly. "Should I?"

"So far the three of us get along, Abuela Grande helps make sure of it' Shard answers honestly "Are you disatisfied with Fenix?"

The dark skinned troll seems less adverserial, more thoughtful. Beltaine perhaps

"Not at all. Nor am I dissatisfied with Renaissance." Evenly.

"Ah, so you're her to wish the hold well nothing more?"

"I'm here to wish the 'Hold a Blessed Beltaine, yes."

Shard nods "Not my favorite time of the year. I fear I lose my edge"

"I doubt that." She looks away to the rest of the Holding, watching the interplay. "You keep it open, even today? Or is that another's influence?"

"You mean the hold or the fighting?"

"The Hold. Well, and the fighting too I suppose. Why? Why today?"

"Revenue, banal as that sounds, helps us... but mroe than that... do you not see that the holy days are the days when combat in this place is MOST Sacred?"

She shakes her head, but it slows gradually. "Show me."

"I am not sure how" He admits

She shrugs. "Ok, then."

He ponders then "Beltaien and Samhain are often times of tales of Holly Tyrant versus Oak King. They do not just hand over power, i nthe tales one slays the other... in ritual combat. That..... catches Jessica. "So. What are you saying?"

"That to battle here is to honor that, to respect that. Even if it were only theatre, some note must be made of the changing season, not just the joy of it, that is for other holds. Here in the Pit? We also honor the cost"

She takes some time to consider this.... slowly.... she agrees. "Ok. Put me in line."

"In line? "

"To fight."

"To honor the cost."

"Hmm I'll see if anyone will make a space for you " the rises

She does as well, with her Maul and her presence. She calls "HEY!" and then nods to Shard.

Shard turns "yes?"

"Carry on."

"Mmph" And he goes to ask others if they will allow the Chapulleh to take their spot on this most sacred of days

Jessica focuses on not seeming worried about if they will, or will not. Whatever.

It turns out there is a spot, a Jaguar pooka has yielded up her turn out of respect to a 'savior of the warrens'. Even now, the pooka she saved from a mad Balor is remembered

Jessica nods in respect, limbers up the maul, and steps in.

"No weapons" She's told "We wrestle here... or punch, but no weapons."

Jessica sets aside her Maul, and steps in.

Jessica faces... Delphine? Oh she's going to get her ass kicked!

Delphine blinks "Well, there goes my job at Fenix"

"No, Delpine. Report as expected. Unless you can't." And Jess doubles up her fists, crouching for the smallest target zone.
