"Ah! Hardly an impossible journey," she says, directing a pointed look at the eshu. "Do tell me, then, why you came this far south on your journey from Canada, rather than make a stop at this fledge's home?"

"Because the Fledge would end up in the care and control of a noble hold instead among the people" Ruzgala looks to the crowd, "Don't you think the nobles take enough from us? Don't you think they control our culture, enough?"

A brow at the appeal to the masses, and she looks to the assembled fae.

It would seem that the she troll and the boggan aren't the only ones greeting the new comer.

And they are giving Coradel a bit of a glare as the Eshu speaks of greedy nobles.

Coradel remains quiet for the moment, listening to whatever the others have to say.

Bachdion gives his liege a side glance to see how she wants to handle this.

"Does seem that our little mews are expected to go die quietly at times, begging your pardon, your ladyship" Lucky says to the baroness. "how are we to continue supporting the hold when nobles grab them , train them their way, and leave us to wither? "

Bachdion may note that Coradel seems unamused but also confident. She nods to Lucky in agreement. "That is a worthy question. Have you posed it to your local nobility?"

The troll woman answers that "Some have, they were told that it was a noble's prerogative."

"Noblesse oblige is not simply about prerogative," she points out. "So, let me understand -- your nobles are not ensuring your well-being, and so your solution is to use this new chrysalid as a pawn in your attempt to, what, exact revenge?"

"To exist," Ruzgala says "Really, Coradel, look at this place. THIS is all the folks here, no more. No thanes to gather dross, no knights to protect it. They do it themselves. Oh if a Chimerical monster attacks, they get help but this mews has a hold, and they don't want to give it up. I didn't come here because they can pay me the most, they can't. I came here because they need him the most. Not politics, survival." A look to Lucky "Or do I mispeak?"

"We can answer our own questions," the boggan says to the Eshu "But that was well said."

"I am not interested in the opinions of the person who would profit from both a chrysalid's inexperience and a mews' limited coffers." She pointedly turns her back on Ruzgala.

Bachdion mutters in Coradels' ear "She's not a bad speaker."

The slightest of nods to Bachdion. The eshu is making reasonable noises, so Coradel must respond with more measurable facts.

She turns to Lucky again. "How much is she charging you for this oh-so-generous-service she provides?"

"One hundred dollars in cash or goods, three nights stay in the future, and a story" Lucky answers "We have a custom made quilt we were going to give her as part of that hundred"

"And I gratefully accept," Ruzgala nods

"They were going to give it...it has not yet been given." She corrects the eshu brusquely, then refocuses on the pooka. "Fandango, what do you think of all this?"

"I want to see the movie before the end credits now that i know it comes in color" he explains, then sighs

"YOu'll figure it out" The she troll tells him

"I take that to mean that you want to know more about your options. Am I close?"

"More like I don't want to see only in gray again" he struggles "But while this isn't my home, maybe It should be because truth is not in my grasp and the grays get suspiciuous when I go back and can't talk?"

Coradel nods. "That makes sense. And this place is one option. Did your escort," she indicates Ruzgala, "tell you that there are many such places of color and glamour?"

"She told me I'd get hugs and a kitten if I came here" The giraffe pooka says

A stern look to Ruzgala. "This is not a rescue, nor an act of beneficence. This is exploitation and trafficking."

"Says a noble who exploits and calls it the status quo" She counters "While painting herself as the heroine. "

Bachdion says "The Baroness is many things, but she's not an exploitor"

Coradel confidently says to Lucky, "I invite you to speak to those in my barony and get their opinions on my leadership. If any feel exploited, I wish to know what I can do to remedy that situation."

Lucky says "Baroness... we want Fandango to STAY. A hundred bucks finder's fee is not unreasonable when we can pay it in our own way, and you do realize you are now suggesting WE are part of trafficking too?"

"I am suggesting that, yes. I would like to hear how you might suggest another interpretation. Especially as we do not know if Fandango may come from a community with its own mews, equally in need of new chrysalids as yours."

Lucky Louise rubs at her forehead, while the She troll looks offended at the trafficker talk.

Now that she's made her initial point, Coradel's tone changes. "I agree, Lucky, that your mews is in need of more fae. But Fandango has been manipulated and lied to. Is that really the basis you want for this relationship?"

The crowd seems less hostile to Coradel, as they muse it over, Lucky says "Well, we don't know what he wants and it's hard for him to tell us. And he doesn't know his options.... whatever we are, we're not going to bully someone into liking us, no matter how badly we need it."

"She's manipulating you," Ruzgala tells Lucky.

"if she is, it's a good job of it" Lucky answers back "And it doesn't mean she's wrong. Thank you, Ruzgala. You'll be paid regardless, but we'll take Fandango to his home and see what he thinks of it there."

The She troll winces "There goes our gas budget."

A gesture to Ruzgala, but still talking to Lucky. "She has been using her words very prettily. She says she found no mews 'in need' near his Dream Dance...but not that there was no mews at all. She must have passed at least a dozen on the way here. But she knew you would pay because of your need."
