"Yeah" She sighs "Sorry we didn't think more about the zoo until you did. You saved a lot of life here..." They start to head off

Tubs tries to stealth after

Surely, Rivervale could us an elephant... particularly a Pygmy elephant that won't get as big as OTHER Elephants?

"Tubby... I don't think you'll fit..."

Clem turns then looks at Dagmar "Dagmar, would you perchance been an ark wrangler in a past life?"

Tubby ggives the SAD look, trunk pleading, BIG eyes

"I don't think so? I was a dude once..."

"Tubby, you gotta go help keep the Old Man warm. He's stubborn."

Tubby looks back at the wrinkled ole bull who doesn't listen to anyone, sighs and trots back to assist him

The old bull snorts and acts like he wants to shoo Tubby away. But Tubby leans against him and clings whether he likes it.. or not

"Kinda like Connor."

Clem smiles "Kindna. Come on. You want to be in charge of checking houses for lost pets? Or ..you want to go home?"

"Oh no - people left pets behind?"

"Well.. some might have.. it ..." She realizes how this is goingn to go down "their rescue isn't a priority for most." Including us

"And thee's a charity shelter we were going to check on too"

"Right..."

"But you might need to get back to Rivervale by now which is fine"

Frown.

"Or not fine? I'm no trying to rile you, Daggmar. I honestly don't know your plans, or if you have a patrol in Bergen"

"Not riling me. Just... I'd like to help. Imagine, being left to freeze?"

"I don't have to" She says "But your point is made. Come on..." And she leads her to hte rescue crew in the area "Dagmar here is in charge of animal rescue"

"If we write down where they came from..."

And they follow her lead!

Later, Dagmar might realize she got put in charge. She got a squire, but she's not normally given leadership roles herself. This was a chance to test those skills, develop them. The DeBukes take orders well enough, give suggestions, and go along with it.

And a dozen cats and dogs are bundled up. The shelter is overwhelmed, but the Farm is not - nobody is out looking for cats that hid under porches, or dogs who bolted.

the only tragedy is one they can't help. a small apartment with a whimpering piiable sound. An old man passed away in the cold and the dark, trying to hold close to his dog.. the man died, the dog alive and alone. A year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a collar with a heart shaped tag that says 'Damsel'

Dagmar gathers up the pup in her arms, but seems stuck at the sight of the old man.

"We'll call in the authorrities" the DeBuke says "Annoymous like. Damn shame"

Dag nods. Her eyes are wet. "This isn't fair."

"Not a damn bit. But he died while trying to keep that litle dog warm. Maybe he had some troll blood, because he went out protecting"

"Maybe."

Damsel whimpers in Dagmar's arms. She maybe young, but she won't forget the Man soon

"I know. I'm sorry. It sucks when people leave."

She doesn't so much snuggle as bury deeper into Dagmar . the world is mean. She doesn't like it anymore.

"We got over a dozen cats and dogs saved" The same DeBuke says "that aint' nothing"

"Yeah..." She looks over at The Body again.

"Help the living, honor the dead when the Lilving are okay" The DeBuke advises and guides her out of the apartment

"How do we even... how many..." Frown.

The DeBuke, who is middle aged, looks at her, "Even troll changelings are half human, and we can't protect them all."

"And it's not our fault we can't" She adds "Save one. then save another. All any of us can do"

"It's not fair."

"If life was fair, I imagine the dreaming and mortals would be a lot closer than they are now"

"What's going to happen to her?"

"The Dog? Guess she needs a new home. Not seeing signs in the apartment the man had relations."

"We can't take her...." Sad.

"Look, I don't know much magic, but if you want. I can fair fortune this litttle dog. Will that help?"

"Sorry." Dag is rapidly shutting down.
