Pennons in Missouri was quite the blow out! To make amends for their rudeness to Earth Runes, their graces of the Duchy held it, but gave a place of honor to Baroness Coradel, Baron August, and Lord Hume! Vince, if he wishes, got in the 'royal box' by pretending to be a support animal. Obviously, Our Earth Rune crew participated in events as well! The Grand Melee was a mass of warriors thrown on the ground and getting to hack around to the last warrior standing. Blades enchanted to prevent a killing blow!

The Great Joust was a fine place to show the best Jousters, Dame Jennete Ap Beaumayn and Coradel both shined on behalf of Earth Runes. Jennette narrowly edging out her own liege to get second place!

The fool feastly frey was a popular side distraction! As Jesters from every hold that had one battled each other in a parody of joust and melee with rubber chickens as flails, long baguettes as swords, and even linked sausages as nunchucks. There were no winners save an entertained Audiance, and Shalimar, once impersonated and blamed reclaimed the love of many for his parody of 300 Bravehearts! No one knows where he got the Emu , let alone how he put a saddle on it

Of course, there are always unofficial matters, incidents that arise due not to bad equipment or stomach ache, but political differences and haughty nobles. So learned Sir Earl DeBuke, when he encountered a lady Eiluned and her husband. The story varies on who you believe, but it was said Sir Earl, perhaps feeling Unseelie early, did make advances and indecent proposal with the Lady Jebel who spurned him only to be insulted by him! Her husband, one Lord Ashtok ap Fiona, challenged Earl to a duel then and there! Earl tried to refuse, explaining that proof of his innocence could be found with the right spells...

Then Lord Ashtok insullted his family. Earl , held together by troll calm, shrugged it off. The farmhold maybe 'yokels' and 'peasants' by their standards but that just proved their ignorance. Then, then insults were made against Zara. Suggestions that the 'boney plain thing' had tried to play the game of silken sheets to improve her placement among Earth Runes, but apparently a bumpkin troll was the best he could get, but no doubt... she was likely pleasing enough for Lord Hume in the dark as a side thing.

By this point, Zara had found out by a furious raven, and a spider sister who had been planted on him. One can't let those they love travel unwatched

Others were having far better pennons (And we'll return to that bit later in actual play when Zara P and others wish)

For as Zara stalks towards the scene, several sisters are sent out - to Vince, to Coradel, to Ivory...

S.O.S!!!

Vince is busy... flirting with a maiden at a concession booth.

"But, my lady. The sign CLEARLY says Sweets." He refuses to release her hand, as she giggles and tries to explain that SHE is not on the menu...

The lady, a lovely pooka herself, lowers her lashes, then.. screams, as her arachniphobia kicks in

As a spider has clambered on Vince's arm in front of her

tapping away a message.

Vince will be told, and the lovely sweet seller? She shall... recover!

Leonora , as usual, scores well in Archery, not her best day but she places! And out an entire Duchy that's damned good

August is watching the finals, and applauds and cheers for the Dame.

tip-tip-tip TAP-TAP-TAP tip-tip-tip.

And August gets a message by tap too

Vince looks slightly torn, but the sweet seller... shall recover! He lifts the tiny spider to eye level and says pleasantly, "Why, gentle lady of the loom, I understand every touch of your gentle, er... feet... to be love notes, one and all. Shall you point, perhaps, to where we might go to consummate our newfound bond?"

And the spider does so, leading him by facing the direction needed, like an arachnid turned compas needle

Zara herself is seeking Earl!

And Zara finds him. Earl's eyes are dark "What did you say about my lady?"

It takes August a moment, but he looks down. "Oh, hello. I didn't realize she.... but, of course she did."

Zara silently glides against his side and threads her clammy fingers through his.

"Ah, Comrade Earl. I believe you mean, our Lady." Vince calls over in a friendly tone, as he steps over.

"Twas you who made odious press against a TRUE lady, my Jebel. " the Fiona says "I merely said yours was ambitious, that such a boney plain thing should play the game of silken sheets... so poorly no doubt and... ah" A look at Vince "Pass her around do you?" A look at Earl "Or does she enjoy a rough tongue and tell you not?"

August gets more taps Trouble. Earl . In Danger? And points with her body 'thataway

"Ah, forgive... Lady, was it? What seems to be the fuss?" Cool, calm, polite!

SO polite.

"If by that you mean, a lady so refined and of such class that those who encounter her know that they must put her upon a pedestal, as a model of magnificence which rude, graceless, mannerless louts cannot but squabble at the foot of... well, I did not say that, did I? I suppose not. How you have found a lady of your own to kiss with such a bitter, spiteful tongue, I cannot imagine."

"Earl's in trouble! Let's go." He puts the spider on his head; perhaps it can guide him by pulling his hair? And off they go!

The Raven, unseen by any but Earl and Zara, is RUFFLED.

"Your bumpkin knight accousted me" Lady Jebel looks deeply offended. "When I declined his rancid overtures, he insulted me"

"And so again I ask" Lord Ashtok snorts "A duel, 'Sir' Earl?"

Zara... titters.

Earl however is insenced, hand on hilt, he appears to be about to say yes "If it's a fight you want..."

"Pardon, mayhaps my ears failed - are you claiming that my Trueheart propositioned you?"

Being sidhe, she IS lovely

She squeezes Earl's hand. "Vince, dear - is that what she is claiming? Hath thee a kithsister? Oh, what a delightful jest..."

"You'll have to speak up, few can hear you, or want to" Lady Jebel says

Earl looks at his lady as she squeezes his hand "But Zara, they're saying... things"

"Ah, Lady - those who need to hear me do so quite clearly." She fixes her dark eyes on the Eiluned.

"Oh, things. " Vince nods. "The things that they say are always of the highest import and troth."

CLEARLY dismissive.

"It must be some kind of jest, I am afraid I am not always able to indulge in whatever silly trend goes about the court set. Is this a tik-tok?"

"The rabble are cliquesh, aren't they my darling?" Ashtok looks to his lady "However, Only one here has title. THe others are hangers ons to Baron August's train"

"Or Lady Coradel's pants" Jebel nods to him

.... as Baron August arrives.
