August nods, eyes tracking the book. "I see."

"Oh sometimes I list the most likely culprits of spell castings and attack... because you can't be 100 percent sure"

"And in the Dreaming, even less so."

"Exactly, so I put it down in a gradiant, most confirmed to less confirmed, most likely to least and..." Silver strands snag the book and lift it up to the ceiling where 1122 awaits.

"Hey!"" Magnus looks up

"HEY!" August says at the same moment.

and a book, now glued to a spider back, clambers along the ceiling heading towards the library, while 1122 hums the Indian jones theme This belongs in a library

"Did a clockwork spider just STEAL my book?" Magnus blinks

"Ah. I think.... perhaps there's a misunderstanding? AH!" an idea "Let me go talk to him. I'll offer to copy it and file the copy with the library and bring you the original!"

"Or I COULD JUST DICTUM the little snot" Magnaus calls after the spider

who picks up speed

Then Magnus sighs "Please do" As the spider goes around a corner

August nods, seeing Hume is being tended and the party moving on to other locales. "I will right away."

And he heads for the library.

He catches up to the spider before he gets to the library, though it's close

"1122!" he calls softly.

1122 taps, hidden by the book Nobody here but us dustbunnies

by now, Augst knows morse code well

Well, Boy Scout.

"1122, please.... may we speak?"

You're gonnna try to talk me into something I just know it. resigned But go ahead

"I am." he says transparently "I agree with you, the wisdom in that book belongs to all who seek it. But the book itself -does- belong to Sir Magnus. I would be remiss if I did not stand up for him."

"Allow me to have the book, and I will copy it. Here in the library if you like." he gestures to the door "And the copy will stay in the library while the original is returned to the author. We cannot disrespect authors, can we?"

A sulky Oh August, you had to put it THAT way?

Clearly even swashbuckling souls can be subject to guilt attacks

Oh very well, but he was doing it partly just to taunt Zara , however playfully. Very ungentlemanly

"Ha! Thank you..." and off he goes to set up his copying materials.

1122 goes to get a glove, he may have to drop it on Magnus' head if he gives Zara more trouble

August settles in.... first order, read the text.

Magnus did his dad proud, he has an index and ranking system for verification , the more sources agree, the higher rating it gets.

And yet, the notes are anything but dry... a record of quotes, then an exciting Novela of 'we think this is how it went down'

Oh, he does get a little thrill out of that; the knowing, not the exclusivity.

Apparently the 'Dagger of the Valiant' is a name for Lucy's Dagger from the Narnia books, made manifest

August reads (and copies) closely; what role did this item play in events?

It was last seen striking the winter witch in the head... in part causing her to fall, when she was turned to stone herself and shattered...

wait, that means the Dagger of Lucy the Valiant is out there somewhere, unless it was retrieved

He makes a side note to ask Magnus.

And, apparently, a centaur named Jordan may have the wand of the white witch

Another side note....

Indeed, saving imbolc was a great victory, the firebrands free and a new trod to boot, but there are loose ends, questions unanswered, mysteries remain. August is not a greedy man, he has a profound lack of avarice, save perhaps for knowledge and fine books and even those he wants shared. However, it is clear there's much to be looked into left over treasures. What sort of welcome are the others gaining? Baron Aiden deserves credit for calling in a cavalry , and Buck the Centaur the hero who discovered the plan to surge upon the DeBuke farm and kill the Spring practioners there. Rover Olgar was the one who sealed the invasion of the Winter fall out from spreading even more.... and .. well, yes, Hume appeared to have undone the petrification en mass, actually the heroes are bountiful!

But the happy ever after parts are not there, becuase they've not yet come about
