August stands awkwardly over by the basket on the table. "Congratulations." he offers to Magnus when he retrieves a treat.

August gets hugged by Magnus

"thanks, Dad. It's a bit mind blowingg isn't it?"

August smiles. "Yes, it is."

"Congratulations, Claire."

"Thanks, August. Go ahead and hold her, River won't bite. No teeth"

He chuckles, seeing that Coradel has a firm hold on the newborn. "No need. She is enchanting."

"Mmm yes, I will wannt her back sometime" Claire nod

Magnus walks near his father "Dad, would you be willing to do the scribe work on the cards announcing her arrival?"

"Of course. I would be honored."

"Thanks," A smile

Claire rolls her eyes "Might as well tell him"

"Tell.... him, me? What?"

"The card will have to announce the Birth of River Augusta" Magnus smiles "Itt's her middle name"

Blink. "Augusta?"

"Magnus, Clair.... that's very kind of you. I reall -am- honored." humbly, with a faint blush.

Claire shrugs "He insisted he get to pick the middle name, then slipped that one in"

"I'm honored, but it's not necessary, Magnus. You should both be happy with the name of your child."

"I agreed to it, August," Clare fusses "And It's not a bad one. Roman Imperial DOES appeal to Ailil sensiblities"

He looks chagrined at that, but says nothing; he just nods.

"Besides, hospital paperwork is already cementing" Magus smiles

"Can't get out of here too soon, for my druthers" Claire mmmphs "Snooty nurse looking down on me."

"Ah." August observes, but says nothing more.

"You'll recover faster by the balefire anyway" Magnus adds

"Ah.... is it wise to bring little River so soon to a Freehold and Balefire?" August asks tentatively.

Coradel beams at the announcement of the middle name, and finally relinquishes hold on the baby to shift her to August's arms. "I don't think it would hurt her. Of course, if you prefer, I can certainly prevail upon my parents to have you spend a few days at the mansion."

At the mention of a risk to the baby, the normally assertive Claire does let motherly worry pass through her "Well, which ever is bettter for River. I can heal the old fashioned way"

"Oh, Ah..... " August takes the baby foisted on him gingerly.

"Oh, you'll be up faster than you think," Coradel says confidently. "Let's treat it like sanctuary -- a three-day at the mansion. Then return and give her her first taste of full glamour."

"Can we get you out today, get you away from that nurse? Oh, by the way, thank you for setting that beacon. Probably the most helpful that woman has been all day."

River looks at August and gapes as if raptly attentive

"Well with her enchanted yes, I can do it...." Claire answers "And you're right on that. She pooh poohed my questions before. So I put her as a 'beacon' like you said in case we had guests. Though I really didn't expect you to learn about it this quickly"

He, himself, seems just as rapt by the little nearsighted bundle.

"We might have actually been here sooner, but there were delays. Probably just as well...I might have given August a fit if I'd insisted on bursting into the delivery room," she smiles.

Magnus observes his new daughter "That's the least fiesty she's been nnot asleep I.." A blinnk "Dad. I think she's mesmerized by your spit curl"

Indeed, little River Augusta seems almost hypnotized

Coradel laughs, then covers her mouth, not to distract the baby from the object of her attention.

"Of course she is" A shake of Claire's head and a chuckle "And honestly, Coradel, I think it's better you did come after. I might have asked you to run a sword through people and you might have obliged"

"My hair?" Dubious.

"Oh, I might have given them a running start," she says to Claire, with a grin.

Dubious or not, as August shifts, River's eyes try to focus (Darn hard on day one thank you) on that curl if it moves

It's high-contrast against his forehead, so probably relatively easy to focus on.

The unruly thing has a mind of its own.

"Friday the 13th" Clairre realizes "I hope that's not unlucky"

"I think our Zara might consider it auspicious," Coradel says absently while stroking one of River's tiny fingers.

"Oh suddenly it makes sense" Surprise on Claire's face at something

August smiles at Coradel over River's little form.

"Hmm?" Coradel says absently in reply to Claire, caught by August's smile and returning a smile of her own.

River's got a strong little grip

"Oooh...we're going to put a weapon in your hand, yes we are!" Coradel murmurs to the baby as her finger gets a squeeze.
