August looks long-suffering, but doesn't say anything about it. "Perhaps he's just not ready yet. There's no timetable, is there?"

He rolls through the door. "Oh, you're practicing your times tables? Such a dutiful scholar."

"I suppose not," Siv say to August "But still.. so much cut off from him by own fears.. " Then she looks up to see Vince! "Vince, you maned charmer you, how are you?"

"O Captain!" He drops to a knee and takes Siv's hand, smooches it, and starts working up the arm unless stopped...

August takes a drink.

A smile from Coradel. "We were discussing Lord Hume, Whiskers. Come and join us," she says, gesturing to another chair in the little breakfast nook where the baronial couple sit with the Lady Captain.

(smooch!) (smooch!) (smooch!)

"...when you're done eating, that is," she adds with amusement.

"Vince... if you hit my ear I'm going to feel deeply conflicted. Shush now"

"Oh, dear me. I am being intolerably rude." He snags August's hand with a deft snatch and places a smooch there as well.

Siv laughs

Before taking the chair, grinning hugely.

"Well, now I feel left out," Coradel pouts and sips her drink.

"Vince, best for last?" Head jerk towards Coradel

He leans across the table and plants a smooch on Coradel's nose. "An apertif, I will save the...mane course... for later."

Siv seems more relaxed than she used to be. Perhaps it's house membership. Maybe it's just she finally got her groove with Earth Runes, but she's far less trollish right now

Coradel may have been expecting something more, and she gives a brief laugh of surprise at the nose smooch. "Fine, fine...I shall suffer along." She gives August's hand another squeeze. "Whiskers, have you had any chance to speak with Lord Hume? Or better, to coax him out into more of the world?"

August is visibly startled by the kiss, but survives.

"The little Lord seems to have a gift of making himself scarce." A sigh. "Shall I take him out for drinks? Dancing, or dining?"

"Oh, I think he might faint if you tried that."

"Perhaps he could use a little shaking up."

"I do want him to spend time with the other Dougals here at Earthrunes...but whenever I mention it to him, he reacts as if I might as well have said 'homework.'"

"Perhaps, Miss Honoria? She has a charm about her, indeed."

"Honoria is older tahnn him by five years isn't she? I meann, since her ques .. not that that sttops 13 year old boys from dreaming"

"One can pack a lot of charm into those 5 years."

"There's a gap, certainly...but what thirteen-year-old boy hasn't been dazzled by at least one girl some years older than him?"

"...or boy."

"He seems more likely to be dazzled by a new iPod. Perhaps he is young yet, to have blossomed into the sweeter longings."

"Hume -is- reaching out to others. In his own way." August nods at Vince. "When he's ready, it will happen."

"Perhaps.. I think I was an early bloomer myself" Siv says "oh my parents sure made certain to close off some avenues" Miming a voice "and you'll meet your UNCLE Vali, and such and such is like a COUSIN and..' I suspect i was deliberate"

"Much as it may seem odd for me to say it, I don't think he necessarily needs romance. Yet. But he does need more interaction with beings that have a pulse of sorts."

An interested look from Coradel to Siv. "That does sound like you were an early adventurer!"

"Fell hard for a scathach sidhe as my first SERIOUS Relationship. The goal was not to make mom and dad twich, but I'd be lying if I didn' say it was a perk. " A smile "And you're probably right. Friends first, then romannce.. but lord he needs friends.. and not long distance ones"

He rubs his chin. "Mmmm. Perhaps it is we who should go to meet him, rather than expect him to rise to us. Tell me, Lioness, how deft are your people with newer technologies?"

"Well, I suppose it depends. I do know that he has been helping our Librarian with some sort of digital recording system for all of the texts. I think he plans to scan some of the books entirely, with her permission."

Siv raises a brow "Zara trusts him with her books? Well, he can't be all bad"

"Yes, it does speak well of him that she trusts him in this. Though part of me wonders if she's really laying some trap for the unwary Dougal."

"I have to say I've never been much of one to focus on newer technologies. Even my phone is a bit baffling, aside from a way to keep track of my dearest, it is scarcely more than a little pocket book. But, the world turns onward, and we shall be at a disadvantage if we do not turn with it. Perhaps the young Lord can contribute to the hold by helping teach those of us who should learn. The younger and the older, and those who arrived from a land wherein technology is as scarce as true magic?"

"If he hates social interaction, teaching might KILL him" Siv says "It's hard work. Turned Vali from a wilder into a grump"

"But he shall be able to focus on that which he loves, hmm? And love shared is love that grows."

"Perhaps not a teaching job, which may be a chore, but a request to share his knowledge."

"Then again, I DO think he would enjoy the music played at the Twin Tigers..." Naming an exotic dance club in the city, with all innocence.

"I got a job offer there!" Siv says "Really flattering!"

"Hume has tried to explain certain technologies to me. I'm not at all sure that teaching will be his strength."

Then to Siv, "Really? Perhaps there's an equivalent opportunity near Rivervale?"

"Task him to find a way to make his love of technology accessible to others."

"If he truly enjoys his computer fiddling, he should be able to find a way to pass on the enthusiasm..."

"Whiskers, I might ask you to pass along that word from me to him. I think he can hear you better," she adds a touch ruefully.

Siv says "No good. It's flamable as well"

"Well." He grooms his whiskers a touch. "I DO speak more clearly."
