Then she looks at Coradel to see HER reaction

Coradel is frowning. She leans toward August a bit to see the scroll he refers to.

August passes it over.

She reads it with a disapproving pout.

"I will tell him to steer clear, of course, but there is a danger to mortals to consider." He frowns, thinking. "Who's the local lord in that area......?"

Siv says "Pittsburgh? I can honestly say I've neer been"

"I think it's...no...no, come to think of it, I'm not sure."

She shakes her head at the scroll and passes it back to August. "Joshua should have support."

"You're right." August agrees. "I suppose with everything going on, I can attend the classes I need to remotely even there."

"That does seem to be the way of it." She looks at him and rests a hand atop his.

He smiles gently and turns his hand to give hers a squeeze.

"This is a hunt, not a rescue mission...no telling how long it would take."

August shakes his head. "I don't know if I would categorize it as a hunt. High King David, and our traditions, instruct us to remain hidden from the Children of Lilith; their banality is as fatal as their bite."

"Well, yes, but...well, if not a hunt, what do you think should be done?"

Siv ponders this

"More information." he says simply "I'll go and meet up with Squire Joshua, learn what he knows, and find ways to learn more. If it's something we can safely stay away from, that's the best option, but if our interference is called for, we must be very careful. And I'll seek an audience with the local lord, of course."

"And you'll get reinforcement if it does come down to interference," Coradel says definitively.

"Look, I'm nno of this bannerhouse, but.. .if you need help?" She ponders "My Chieftain doesn't have any tasks for me beyond patrolling"

"Yes, Coradel." with patient good humor "And thank you, Lady Captain."

"It sounds as if all is calm in Rivervale, then," Coradel nods. "If you can be spared, I would appreciate that."

Siv nods , unaware that a centaur has been put in a pit

"Well ,goodness, your Banner house has been busy" Siv says

"I believe it is needful work." he says with a modest smile "It's good of you to say so."

"The bannerhouse is under excellent leadership," she says, squeezing August's hand.

"Thank you."

"Well I can tell you Sir Carowyn is a hard worker. Heck, he helped a man get enough courage to foster a boy out of the sysem. The two really love each other.. he's like the dad the little boy never realized he needed. "

"Oh? Where was this?"

"Bergen area" She beams "to be fair, Annne Marie helped out. See, my friend Dagmar? She's an amazing knight- getting sworn to mum this Beltaine in fact, was in a pretty bad system of foster care. Since then, we've kept, the community I mean, our hands more in. Anne Marie's this boggan lady who.. oh good lord i think she's been knighted. I forget that all the time! Well, it's slowly turning a least the local system around"

"Sir Carowyn is a remarkable man; it's an honor to have him under the banner."

Coradel nods. "You have much to be proud of in your family and home, it seems, Lady Captain."

She looks thoughtful "yes, Yes I do. I do need to remember to be grateful for that" Siv admits "So, Baroness, what's this about your heir?"

August sighs quietly.

Coradel really should have the good graces not to roll her eyes. Really, she should. But she doesn't quite manage it. "Part of the perils of nobility. Derynwydd was my heir, but now that she has her own holding (and is doing a fine job with it)....well, it seems I didn't rush quickly enough to name a new one, and so the Duke and Duchess saw an opportunity to place a baron in need of a barony." She pauses. "He's not awful," she admits. "We just...have very little in common. But he's already proven himself helpful."

"I think it might be a matter of channeling his particular talents." August suggests.

"Damn" She says "I mean, I was there when Baroness Derynwydd liberated Brightwinds" She does not make much of her own part in it beyond that "But.. you didn't rush quickly enough? She hasn't been there even a year and a day yet. Maybe it is a troll thing, but, that does seem a rushed pace. Glad to hear he's at least being helpful. How old is he?"

"Thirteen, I believe. Lord Hume ap Dougal." A bit of a sigh. "And yes. I left a power vacuum, and Concordia loathed it."

A gentle squeeze. "It is not a situation that... one is eager to consider."

"No, and I supposed I do understand their concern. For some reason, people seem to think I'm not terribly cautious about dangerous situations," she adds with a grin to Siv.

Another soft sigh.

Siv chuckles

A shrug to August. "Nothing you didn't already know, my love."

"Well, 13 ? mm he'll be discovering lasses then.. or lads"

A glances at Coradel at the suggestion by Siv.

"And one thing computers haven't improved on, is real in person company" Siv is still thinking

A dubious look. "He has barely seemed to have discovered live company of any sort. He is glued to his various devices. I barely understand what he says, most of the time."

"Oh dear" Siv says "Poor lad. That's just... call me old fashioned, but early wilder hood is a time for confusion and wanting without knowing the details and breaking into a smile at seeing that someone for no reason and a frantic fear of appearing an idiot and an even more frantic dread of not being noticed at all, a time where you take a step out to learning about longing and joy with another just holding a hand"

A voice from down the hall. "Heeeeere, Baron Baron Baron... Grrr-RRR-rrrr-Rrrrrraaaaand Baron!" With a bit of a rumblepurr in it!

Siv blushes "That caught on fast"

Coradel nods emphatically to Siv. "Exactly! that's what it should be. And yet he seems to be doing his best to avoid all of that."

Then a fond smile at the voice of the approaching pooka. "You're not going to hear the end of that anytime soon, my love," she murmurs to August before saying, "Over here, Whiskers!"
