"And he's scurrying behind her alraedy" Mirwin says

"Oh, I do, I do...but they do have rights, and we do so wish to see that their rights are respected, don't we?" Some ironic tone there.

Earl raises a brow "I could tape them BOTH, Baroness"

A sharp look of flame and ferocity at Mirwin...she might cut him down for that alone!

Mirwin is a fiona, and not easily scared

Then lightly, "Oh, no. No, no. I may claim his tongue for a trophy to hang on my wall later, but for now...no. My Baron, my husband, my trueheart, my love...will you serve as my champion in this trial by combat? I set the location as the outside ring, and I think the sooner the better. You may choose which of them fights for their side of the trial."

August bows. "It would be my honor. It is unchivalrous to fight a man in a cast." He nods to Mirwin, indicating his selection of opponent. "What rules for the use of magic?"

"I will let you name those details."

She says to August.

"Oh come on August, make it sporting" Mirwin says, fighting he understands "Litle to no magic"

Coradel gives a nod to Bachdion: tape him

Or Earl. Or both. They can fight over the tape.

August crosses to Mirwin and offers a hand, holding the other up to forstall Bachdion a moment.

And Bachdion..stalls

"Let us both commit as gentlemen that neither of us will commit the first use of magic." he offers.

Coradel watches quietly.

"Agreed" Mirwin says

And he looks cocky

"In this duel, of course." And August will shake on that if his hand is taken.

He takes it

Coradel notes that look with concern, but says nothing.

Looking smug "So.. first blood or to surrender?"

"What is the weapon?" Coradel asks from where she stands.

"Personal swords?" August looks from Coradel to Mirwin, checking for his agreement.

A nod from Mirwin "Grand. "

Coradel's jaw sets at that, but she says nothing.

"First blood, my Lady, or surrender?" He offers Coradel the choice.

His face bland, like he's ordering a breakfast danish.

A pause, then equally blandly, "It matters little. First blood, I think."

"And he," she points at Seneca, "he shall wait in the dungeons."

Another bow, and he straightens. "As you wish."

Seneca is hauled into tthe Dungeon

Mirwin says "I'll need my sword back" to Bachdion

Bachdion says "You mean the one I disarmed from you? Yes, I suppose you might need it"

August nods to Tylar; the squires and page know where his arms are kept.

And that happens. "Actually" Mirwin says when Tylar brings the blade "The one you disarmed is my spare. This one ..oh yes"

((Meant that to be AUGUST'S arms but.... ok. August did intend to send their things back.))

August's blade is returned with delightt.

"Thank you." he murmurs. "Let's show our guest the way to the ring and see he is properly prepared."

Velvet hisses "Too good to him, my baron"

"I will win or lose, but honestly and honorably." calmly.

Earl says "Your liege is right, Squire. If Mirwin wins with sword play, August is hurt. But if August wins through dishonorable means, then he's diminished himself. There's no question which injury is more grevious"

A quiet nod from Zara.

In the ring, August turns to Earl. "Will you please see that Mirwin has all he needs and is ready?"

"For you, August my friend, yes. " And he sees to it, honorably and fairly.

Bachdion says to August "I disarmed him smoothly enough in the parking lot. He protects his core, but for first blood, limbs are satisfactory.. you might try for the weapon arm"

August nods. "Thank you." He stretches, and goes to Coradel who presents him with a token and a very warm 'good luck' kiss.

Coradel whispers in his ear after the kiss "Teach him respect, assuming the cretin has any capacity to learn"

He turns and with a blank expression (that some would know of old) he stands ready for combat.
