"I fear there might be. Lord.. I think the two party crashers were at their house"

August turns a very serious look at Tylar. "Were, or are?" He starts to move towards his car. "I saw them safely home just past dawn."

"Were.. and only briefly , Lord. They didn't go INT the house.. but they definitely checked the adress"

"Damn. Hop in." He invites as they reach the Prius.

He does

August drives them to the monarch's house, carefully watching to see if there is any watching them.

No fae that he can see

"Do you see anyone?"

"No sir.... but then there are veils. SHould we ken?"

"Yes. You take that side." August kens the area around them, getting out if needed.

August moves past the mail box and kens sensing no glamour in the house area before him

He looks at Tylar, asking a question with his glance.

"Nothing on this side, sir" He says

August takes in the house itself; car in the driveway? Lights on?

"Tylar, did you say they noted the address but did -not- attempt to go in, or make contact?"

"They were standing right next to the mailbox sir" he says "But didn't go in. "

He gives the mailbox an extra kenning.

Wait.. this time.. oh wow, he focused PAST It the first time. If not for this second attempt.. he'd have missed it. A bit of glamour in the mailbox

"Something in here." he murmurs softly, not touching it yet. "Are we observed?"

Tyalr says "I'll keep watch" And he looks about

August will use a handkerchief to protect his flesh, and opens the mailbox.

The glow comes from an envelope.

August pockets it and motions to Tylar for them to hustle away to the car.

And they make a clean get away

August finds a safe space to pull over and examine the envelope.

The glamour smacks of chicanery.. waiting.. but not one tuned to changelings

"Not for us, I suspect it's for them. Perhaps we should take this to Zara."

"She would soon dsicern it yes" Tylar nods "She's.. well, you know, powerful"

"Yes, she is. Ok, let's get back. And Tylar, we may need to address protecting the monarchs over a longer term." Then he sighs. "And I'll have to tell Coradel."

A look "Out of the tasks you mention, I'm glad I'll only be helping with protecting the monarchs" No he does not want to be ther to tell the Baroness.

They head back

So it was that the library is approached... and Zara hears the footsteps she knows so well

The door cracks open.

There is August's gently smiling face approaching.

Squire Tylar is at his side well, one step back

"Zara?" softly.

"Aye? Come in, what troubles you?"

He explains about the monarchs and who was seen at their house. Finding the envelope. "...and I wondered if you might take a look?"

She frowns. "Harassing mortal monarchs? That..." Bristle.

"I shall look, aye." She takes and kenns the envelope.

August's theories were right...chicanery, not tuned to changelings . No, rather, this was meant to influence mortals and Zara's expertise takes it further- It was adressed to the King. Had he picked it up and looked at it, it would have looked like photos of his belvoed wife CHEATING on him.

As the Queen has done no such thing..well, this would be the basest deception

Hissss.

"Cantrip, cantrip, cast to deceive... I intend to find the marks your caster did leave..." Casting a willow whisper.

"I'm sure there must be some decision that following Carnivale with such harassment could give us grounds to lodge a complaint....."

"What is the name of your caster?"

He hushes.

"Seneca" the whisper says simply

"What did he hope to accomplish with this magic?"
