Adam's dreams lately have been.. GOOD.. feelings of gratitude, for his rescue of a lost girl, for his understanding of the fears and helpless feelings of others.

At least getting through school is easier without a dream-hangover.

It was a good dream

Thus powered, he goes to his classes.

"Today, we learn sculpture" Bachdion says "Follow me"

Adam follows.

They come to a hall of statues, mostly nudes! Some of them are interestingly specific, like Vince wresting a Bull

"You, uh, you don't expect me to make something like these, do you? 'Cause... I don't think that's going to, like, just happen."

"Ha. you never know, but no. Just going to teach you about different t ypes of art and see what appeals to you

"Yes, Sir." obediently.

"I thought you'd appreciaate this area. " And there are statues , this time of women, lounging, posing, some slender, some with detailed musculature...

"Hey, the one of Vince was pretty bad ass." he admits "But these are more, uh.... more my style, I think."

"Even then, there's a difference in styles? Notice this statue here, the skin isn't as smooth in some ways, if you feel it, don't worry it's not depraved, you can feel that the grain was chosen for a porous sort.. her features aren't unblemished, but she's still lovely. this was born of an attempt at realism. You get the same art periods with painting"

He does touch the sculpture, experiencing the texture of the arm and foot. "Yeah. Ican see that. Like.... like the difference between the paintings of the big ladies with the long curly hair and the paintings made of dots. Trying to say different things."

"Very well said, Adam" Pleased "Grand dame Bondrastte told me you might be interested in learning how to make beauty. Your mother has a gift for poetry.. but you can explore as many avenues as you like. The other benefit to this is, well, being able to discuss and appreciate art even if you don't practice it os of use to any sidhe."

Adam nods. "Baroness Coradel is really into art but I don't think she makes it."proving Bachdion's point.

"Just so. She is an equestrian and college student, a lover of art, but not a practioner of it. However, she has the advantage of a freehold. "

"She's pretty amazing."he agrees.

"Truer words never spoken" He motions "Now over here, we have more modernist art."

He looks at it carefully and finally asks "..... what is it?"

"You don't know?" As if stunned. The looping thing looks like of like giant stone sphagethos fallen on a poached egg

"Uh."he looks worried. "Is it.... food? Should I touch it?"

"It's a statue" He says "It's okay to touch it. I mean, you don't know what it means?"

"No." crestfallen.

"Me neither" He says with a smile "I don't get modernist art. But then some do so.. more power to them. It's okay, Adam. Part of this is to learn the types of art you like.. now you know bettter what sculpture you like.. it's okay. Like music, there's no being WRONG just because you like some styles more than others"

"But... shouldn't it be something you can understand and appreciate?"

"Some say art is the conscious use of the imagination in the production of objects intended to be contemplated or appreciated as beautiful, as in the arrangement of forms, sounds, or words." he says "But.. it's so open isn't it? Do you have to understand something to appreciate it? I think it helps, but others might disagree"

"Like..... beauty is in the eye of the beholder?"

"Possibly, if Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder, and Beauty is life. then knowingg what you find to be beauitful is important. " He motions the young man on

Adam goes with him.

Other sculptures are in geometric forms, not natural, but you know what they are..

"At school we had a lesson on thiis sculptor that made a statue that was so beautiful he fell in love with it, and the gods made it live for him. I can't see that happening to these statues."

"You like the classics then a touch of realism mixed with the artistry?" He looks at the triangle "Nice hips on this one though"

"I don't see hips." Adam frowns and looks around the triangle, 360. "Maybe... maybe something Egyptian? Reminds me of a pyramid. I mean, just the form."

"Oh if you look at some shapes you can see the feminine.. or masculine in them. Think of the triangle turned upiside down?"

"Like... on its tip?"

"Yes.. okay, it IS sort of Egypttian"

"On it's tip it's..... unstable. But if it falls, it's stable again." Adam thinks. "I guess that's something."

"Let's move on" He says "What are you learning about art styles?"

"Music."

"You're learning music about art styles?"

"No, I mean I'm learning music. Drum. And sometimes we have lessons on poetry and plays and stuff."

"How's the drum coming along?" He asks

"Eh." he shrugs "I can keep time."

"GOt a favorite song to play too"

"Huh? I mean.... I supposed to give the rest of the band time. The beat, the rhythm."

"you haven't tried to just beat out to a song you love for yourself yet? Phil Collins wept" he chuckles "Music is something anyone can feel in their bones, it's transporting at times. It's not even my passion and ... well, somedays I wish it was"

"I've just been trying to learn the basics."

"It's kinda like dribbling, shooting.... finding the hole."

"I see... " He nods "Well, athletics is a passion too." A nod "Adam, found your love of basketball again?"
