"Something stronger?" he asks with some hidden hope.

"Mmm.. okay. I think nope" Jack says "Last thing I need is to find out I've gotten you addicted"

A SIGH.

"He's not joking, Adam. Achololism is a banal nasty thing" Bachdion says

"So you guys don't drink?"

"Of course we do," Jack says "This is a bar"

"So?"

"So..." Jack says "You saying I can't cut folks off in MY Bar?"

"No."

"Just trying to ... figure out the rules."

"Rule one in this tavern? Jack makes the rules" Jack says "I ran this place before the Baroness ruled, and even the Baron, who was not nearly as nice as she was though still a good man, over ruled me in here. I dont' water down my drinks. Some hit hard and you know it, others sneak up, but either way I'm a better judge of it than even the person drinking"

"Mister Jack, that sounds fine." Adam says. "I just want to test my own limits, you know?"

"I mean... what else is life for?"

"Oh" Jack says "Wait, kid, are you WANTING to get shit faced? "

Bachdion ponders "It IS good to know how far you can go"

"I've had drinks. Like, you know, alcohol." with bravado "I bet I can go.... well, not fair, you're satyrs."

They grin at that

"I was wondering if you'd remember that" A grin "Never drink against a satyr," Bachdion says "We can outdrink trolls twice our size"

Jack laughs "Remember when we got Earl so smashed got him to paint the wall in the storage area ?"

"Shhh" Bachdion whispers "If Miss Zara finds out about that, she may not have a sense of humor"

Adam shifts in his seat. "So... yeah? I mean.... I don't know about shit face but you know. Drinking as men do?"

Jack raises a brow "How do you think men do? The Drinking I mean?"

Adam sighs. "Just... you know, not getting all hung up on age?"

"I mean, does it -matter-? Really?"

Jack says "Scientifically speaking? A bit.. the mortal brain isn't really done developing for a guy until his mid twenties."

"Is my brain mortal?"

"Possibly... but your mind and soul.. mmm there's a question... but really, kid " Jack says "Drinking as Men do varies a lot. Some folks don't drink booze. That's their right.. I dont' get it, and I'm glad not everyone skips, but hey. Others like wine, some only drink socially, some only drink on dates. I know one guy who drinks only on holidays but gets smashed on em with friends to tuck him in. whatever way you find to drink responsibly? That's a man's way of drinking. A boy's way is irresponsibly like it was a dick check"

"How do you figure out your way if you can't get a drink?" he asks reasonably.

He says "Did you not just have three glasses? or at least two and a half"

"Yeah." he grins "And they were good."

"Ergo sum etcetera, your 'can't get a drink' assumption is in error. What you mean is you can't get ALL the drinks you want" Jack says

"oh good god, Jack, by Latin flowers if you're going to do that" Bachdion says "If the Baron walked in here he'd get stigmata from that"

Adam sigh. "Fine. Coke is fine."

Jack chuckles and gets him the coke "Tell you what, Adam. Sometime you pick a night before a day when you've got free and I'll help you test your limits okay?"

He grins, a little. "Deal."

"There we go.. you realize if you break him, GrandDame Bondraste will have your horns?" Bachdion grins at Jack

"Yeah yeah, she's already told me she's wanting him taken care of" Jack humphs

"I love her." Adam contributes happily, although he's less than interested in his soda.

"Well, she's fond of you" Bachdion says "She says she senses great things in you"

"Well. I hope I can live up to that. And her."

"Huh, glad you hit it off with some folks here" Jack nods

"People here are great! Mostly."

"oh, that's a liam vibe, you get used to it" Jack says

"Yeah, they.... " Adam shrugs. "... people say to give them a chance. I try."

"I think she's talking about our newest sidhe, Jack" Bachdion says

"Oh, yeah, sucks when that happens" Jack frowns

"You guys think there's gonna be sports next year? Like professional sports, NBA?"

"I sure hope so" Jack says frustrated "I don't get my march madness I get cranky"

"Jack runs the betting pool on most sports events around here" Bachdion says

"Yeah??" His eyes light with interest. "Can I get in on that? I mean, when it starts again?"
