And the sluagh turns and heads out from the garret - leaving behind the box of secrets and delights.

He nods "I pressed too hard. I.." she walks off and he sighs. Watching her go. Suddenly he can't bring himself to touch that box.

He watches her go, and suddenly realizes that he is indeed an artist, pining in a garret. It doesn't matter he can leave if he wants. With her angry, he is in a prison, one of an aching heart. Damn it, Earl. You can't just keep your mouth shut?

One arm around Nabuni, Adam knocks on the appointed door.

"You're Adam," She says flatly

"Yes, he is."

Claire sighs "Magnus. Adam is here. I assume for you."

"bet he likes looking at you more " Magnus says

Claire looks at Adam "Second. He'll be here." She turns and goes.

Nabuni soaks some of it in.

Then Magnus appears "Adam? Everything okay?" He's got a T shirt and jeans.

"Huh? Oh, uh, yeah. Yes Sir." Adam struggles to get it together.

"Sorry. Uh, Sir, this is Nabuni."

"Hello" Nabuni says

"Hello, Nabuni" Magnus nods "How are you?"

"I'm fine, thank you" She beams and checks the sidhe out sereptiously

"Grand Dame Bondraste said I need to speak with the Baroness but..... I wanted to make sure you met. And you were ok with Nabuni and I together."

"I mean.... she's not looking for a mentor or any.... are you?" He stops to ask.

He looks at Nab then at him, "She's very nice, Adam..and it's nice to meet her," A nod to Nab "it is, " then a glance back "But I have no complaints. Lots of folks have Chimera "

"I know, just.... well, I want it to be.... straight up. Understood."

"Only until he falls in love ith a real girl" nab says

"Nab....."

"I see." Magnus looks back and forth "Adam, Fiona don't often judge relationships. Nab seems be the sort of Chimera taht will fit in fine here and I'm glad you told me. But she won't be able to be in on some classes. You understand yes?"

"Yes, sir, I do."

"I guess... I need to speak with the Baroness. Uh. Should I make an appointment?"

"She's kind of fluid. You can talk to the steward if you want an appointment, but your best bet might be to catch her in the halls"

"Oh. Uh, ok. I mean.... just..... walking around?"

"You never know" Nabuni smiles "I get al ot of fun energy around here Some is her I think"

"Yeah?"

"Knock on her door, or see if you find her in the halls, or talk to Steward Delores" Magnus shrugs "Nothing's guarenteed"

"Yes, sir. Thank you." One arm stays around Nab.

"Oh, you'll be learning new magics soon" Magnus says "SOmething to look forward to"

He looks a bit crestfallen. "I'm.... not very good at magic. Nab and I were working on teaching me to watch out for stuff but....."

"DOn't worry, we'll start on the types of magics and the basics."

"I'll try, Sir. I'm not afraid of working for it."

"Think of it like learning how computers work before you learn actual programing" He says

"Yes, Sir." He looks down the hall. "Ok, so... thank you."
