They quicksilver and copy books with as best penmanship they can. What could take an hour is getting done in tens of minutes

An hour truly passes, and they get their notes, and go.

Unaware they are carrying a spider with them.

"Hi," Leonora says waving as they are on their way out

The three young men stop, and try not to gawk

The third doesn't speak

Adam sees A Varich come up the steps, with him, a hawk

"Sir." Adam greets him appropriately. "May I help you?"

"Yes yes, the mother is healed, but let's set her down. Get a glove , I taught you before, yes?"

"I... no. Sir." Politely, and he's carrying a glove 'cause it's COOL.

"Mmm let's start and show you carefully. Now, never let it too close to your eye. For some birds, it's like teasing a dog with a steak. "

"Yes, Sir." Adam dons the glove and greets the Master. He carefully takes the bird as instructed.

The hawk looks tired and tense at the same time, but Sir Sergei says "Now, she's been mistreated, and we are calming her. Abrupt motions are a mistake. Soothing sounds.. like this, mgihtt aid" And he mkes a tongue clicking sort of shhh combo

Adam copies the sssshhhhh....... He looks at Sir Sergei to see if petting is ok?

"Here, once she is sedate, there she goes, you may stroke here and here... and never against the feathers...a bird must trust you to allow this, but I think we are getting there with her. And Red Tail hawks are less hostile than some."

A pause "Though in truth, the owl adores being scratched on the head. "

"Ok...." He breathes, and pets as shown.

When she spreads her wings he says "Easy, that's a warning sign. Let her settle again. She's getting used to you."

Adam backs off, waits......

She settles a bit, perhaps sensing that he cared for her young. "Yes, good. She's getting to know you"

"S'ok... there you go." He whispers, gentle.

"Her name is Kansas.. Which means 'People of the South Wind'" A pause "It's also a state"

"Yeah?" Interested more in the meaning of the word than geography. "Beautiful....." He pets.

"I prefer Russian names at times, to honor my House, but she is an american breed of hawk so there you go. She's not just a hawk, of course, but a fae hawk. Brighter than her usual kin. You will be traught how to do things the mortal way so you can handle both. "

"Yessir. Thank you." He pets, fascinated. "Kansas. Hey."

She seems to like her name being used, and tilts her head with a curious glance at him. Yes, She twists on his glove. This one is all right

"Kansas......" He tries it.

Yup. She turns to him at the name. She seems to be saying hello back. Mind you, with a hawk expression. She preens a bit

"Mmmph, now she's flirting with you. Feel free to pet her now"

Adam pets respectfully. "Such a pretty girl..... beautiful."
