The Seer's frustration abounds... the bowl reveals nothing

Almandine huffs "This is impossible..I am not that incompetent"

He takes a bit of dross... and snaps it, increasing the intensity of his powers

And all he gets is..a shadow?

"How the hell can I not track a troll?"

Frustrated, he heads to the library. There maybe answers in one of the occult books there.

The library appears dark, but that is no promise that the Librarian is not present...

He lights a small candle, so not to upset any sluagh there, and yet provide enough light for himself

And then begins to sort through the occult selection

He feels eyes upon him.

"Miss Zara? Is that you or Miss Velvet?"

while still sorting through

"Tis Zara. May I help you?"

"I'm trying to find ways to passively thwart scrying.. I think someone I was investigating has inquired it"

"Mmm.. the two most effective are rare. Sovereign can be used thus, if Weaver-Ward is carefully cast..."

"Yes... I thought of that, but my target is a commoner. She's trying to join a house and is titleless"

"Ah. No, that is not an art - that is simply her."

"She slips through Da'an's threads like a greased needle, she is most difficult to scry. I believe that an inborn trait."

"How utterly irritating" A frown "I think I'm offended."

"Oh, I know! I've caught her a few times. It is possible."

"A few times? I've not managed once. Respect, Miss Zara" A tilt "You know her then?"

"Aye. Quite well."

She pale hand skims the shelf, then plucks a book from it.

"I see? Perhaps then I should have turned to you. I'm trying to determine if she is a threat to the Baroness or this holding"

"Ah." She offers him the book - the title reveals it to be a treatise on soothsay and scrying.

"Consider, Sir Bellamy - would I allow a threat to this holding?"

He takes the book, "I read this, but clearly I missed the notation on a natural resistence," At the use of his old name he actually chuckles "You are the only other person who uses that name any more. "

"I do not think you would ever allow, but for a time you were away... and I am the one who is supposed to be the seer for official duties. You're my superior at the task, but you shouldn't have to."

"There is nothing in this world without risk. But..."

"But?"

"But I do not believe she would intentionally cause harm to any here."

"She's... distressingly direct. Trolls, nu?"

"You know the kith better than I, but yes. They do seem to either be quiet, or piling through."

"She's a bit.. ah.. freewheeling for the kith. But still, subtle? Not so much."

"Interesting. Thank you, Miss Zara. Oh, Demona wanted to know if you and Earl ever wished to join us for couples tea?"

"Oh! That sounds lovely!"

"I shall let her know. " He does not say so, but the fact they are still dating indicates that Demona has truly ensnared him, or at least that it goes quite well. They've been together for over a year.

"I shall bring cookies."

"You're too kind. May I keep this book for a few days? I clearly need to re read"

"Indeed."

"My thanks, and I'll be sure to tell Demona to find the ideal time. She shall make a great fuss over how it could go horribly tragic, but such distress makes her happy." A soft fond shake of his head

"A touch of tragedy makes life all the sweeter."

"And treasured" He agrees

"Aye."

"I am , once more, indebted it seems. Thank you for the reassurances and the suggestion of the book" He bows and withdraws

A bow back, before she retreats to do... sluagh things.

as she retreats, she notices something that somehow, impossibly, escaped her notice. A new book, or at least, new to her library.

An eyebrow.

She kens it.

It has a bit of glamour, weak.
