BIC: "Okay" He says...

"Here you are, squire, with my compliments to the Count, please." He rolls up the files and ties them closed.

He takes them, does not look, "No problem, sir. Anything I should mention specifically ? "

"I'm available to discuss if he so desires, but..." August thinks. "... no. I don't think so."

"Then in that case, sorry to give you a jolt, dude..ah sir" he seems trulhhy apologetic. "Whatever going on here, not my biz, but I can tell I came at a bad time. You've got the boss man's number if you think of anything else"

"It's been a busy week." He says diplomatically. "Thank you. Let me walk you out?"

"Sure" He says "Keep my house on the downlow would you? this place seems cool but ... I got to some places and I don't want to be yanked out of that oaken closet"

"Of course, that I -do- understand." August walks him out. "Although.... it can't be hidden entirely."

"Nor should it be."

"Loud andp roud you are..." A smile "Anyway, Nice to meet you" As he is escorted out. Rollo hands Bowski his axe, and makes quite the show of lifting it without effort

Bowski takes the axe, "Thanks. " And files under arm, he heads out.

August takes a moment to let the tension drain, then seeks his chamber.

Ooc more like he sits on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands

After a time he scrubs his face with his hands, and gets up to change.

After a little while, there's a knock at his door. "August?" It's Coradel.

He turns, and his expression is grim.

((she hasn't come in, yet))

His expression is the same. "Yes."

A pause. "Can I come in?" Almost amazed she has to ask, but he always opens the door....

((They are in their chambers.....?))

((I thought he was in his study?))

((Okay, then never mind that....she's in the room.)) A look at his expression, and her smile slips away. "August...what's the matter?"

He strides over to enfold her in a deep, fierce, hug.

A bit surprised, but she returns the embrace. "My Love...what has happened?"

He doesn't answer immediately, but holds her close. Finally with a deep breath he lifts his head to look at her. "You, mostly. Terror in Hindsight, for me. "

She meets his look with concern, reaching up to brush his hair back from his brow. "I don't understand."

"I don't remember much. Not details. But I do know I was terrified for you, and Zara." Something he has not mentioned to date. "I prayed you wouldn't come but I knew you would. I found out how you did it." He looks... stern.

"You knew we had to." Her voice is low. "I just regret that it took so long, that we didn't get there sooner. Zara was ready to go right away, and I wanted to, but they said they'd take your fingers if anybody but Zara went. I...couldn't risk that. But I thought...I thought that meant they wouldn't...." She shakes her head. "I should have realized."

He swallows. "I got details on that, too." He can't help a small shudder.

A little frown. "Details...such as?"

"What was threatened.... and what was done." He gibes her a -look- " You didn't say."

A sigh, and she looks away. "I told you most of it." A frown; somebody might be getting in trouble for spilling the details.

"It is better that I know, and maybe better you did not have to tell me yourself." His arms still tight around her, pewter eyes watching her emerald ones.

She meets his gaze again, and he can see the pain there. "It was...awful." She shakes her head. "And I wish you didn't know. I kept thinking...how sick it was, that he would choose that. It was just such a...a violation of you. Not just your body, but your beliefs....a mockery." Her voice has gone low and angry. "Nobody gets to do that to you."

He chuffs a soft laugh. "I will tell you story of St. Peter sometime. What terrifies me is the risk you took. You both took."

A stubborn chin lift. "Nothing compared to the risks I wanted to take."

"That doesnt help." Firmly.

"I don't care." Just as firm. "Tell me you would not have done the same, in my position."

"But I would have done it -wisely.-" he replies, then sighs "I know, I know. You couldn't stop Zara? She is -not- a combatant. I mean, less than I am."

August may belatedly realize that those were the wrong words to say, because Coradel's eyes have gotten very, very wide.

No real way to swallow that back, is there.....
