The Varich dislikes coming to the library too often, that ...creature is here. He endures her, as he endures the squire, but Sergei makes no pretense of anything beyond tolerance for the whisperers. They're not such great fools as to believe him if he said otherwise. They ripped out the heart of their founder, made mockery of love and thus denied him love forever. A thousand years does not undo that crime. SO he hopes she is not here as he peruses the books, seeking one in particular.

He finds it, one of the few books written in Russian. It is half concealed, and worn so that lettering on the cover is now but specks of memory, but the text within is good. Better still, if one knows how to truly read it.

The Varich considers walking out with it, but then frowns. Whatever he may think of the creature, his liege and scribe both recognize her as a librarian here. He will respect the position even if he despises the nightmares that folks trust far too easily. He leaves a note... Животные Поля is in my keeping. Now, he walks out with it, the book in his hand...no doubt the librarian, even if she does not read russian (and she might) knows that the closest translation to the book is 'The Beasts of the Field'. Hardly atypical that a master of beasts should be interested in it. Mmm?
