Sparrow is in the garden, sitting crosslegged in the grass with Ladybird at her side. The pup is not wearing her vest, and is currently trying to eat a dandelion.

"Incoming" One of the troll thanes can be heard near the trod.

"Ladybird, sit." She rests one hand on the hound as she looks up in idle curiosity.

"Easy, you sot heads, just because it's on my back doesn't mean I'm dumb enough to draw it. Jeeezus, it's not even that type of gun." Perhaps, with that amount of mouth present, it's no surprise that coming through the trods is a Nocker. There's some weird kind of old style elephant gun/blunderbuss looking weapon on his back that sparks with glamour. The nocker himself is athletic for his kith , The Clownish markings of his face looking a bit like a parody of war paint. He also has a pendant about his neck... some butterfly coming out of a cocoon design

He wears a symbol associated with the Order of Eiliethyia , the organization charged with finding and protecting fae undergoing the Chrysalis. Indeed, one of the trolls recognizes it too and grows a bit more respectful, "Welcome to Earth Runes, Sir"

"I'm not a damned knight, just shove me where you would any ccommoner if you furking please" The nocker snorts "And stop staring t the gun. It's not for killing. I ought to know."

She rises, wings gently flitting as the resettle against her back. "You might. So what is it for?"

"Who wants to furkin..." He turns, then his mouth falls open, and he blushes. The Baroness' beauty is effusive, almost engulfing, particularly to those that see her for the first time. The wilder Nocker's face blushes, turning his reds redder and the whites amusingly pink. It takes several beats, but then he bows, it is not a practiced bow, but it's there, "It's a Wonderblus, your ladyship" He says "I won't bore you with the how it works, because unless you're a dougal you wouldn't be able to understand it and even then...but it can help me track and crack Chrystalids.. In a fight I have to use other things."

"I am not a Dougal, no. I am the regent here, welcome to Earth Runes. Are you seeking a Chrysalid now? Need you haven, or something to eat or drink?"

"Was hoping for a room and meal" He admits, "And sorry, Regent for not giving my name but you caught me off guard with the sidhe whammy there.... I'm Grosvenor..." He adds as if that needs more "It's French. And yeah, got a tip to take a trod out of Firnost adorned with flowers... to find my next sleeping soul, and I figured what the hell...got this one. I was hoping to patrol the fief here, just doing the Escheat's work, not meaning to step on anyone's furking authority"

"Nice to meet you, Grosvenor. And yes, we can make sure you are refreshed before you patrol. I'm Deryn - do you have any notion of what kind of Chrysalid is burgeoning? We have a few fledges here, and we're certainly prepared to welcome another..."

"Soothsayer who helped me said that 'spring had passed' which only means whoever it is, he or she isn't a childling. unfortunately, that means that anyone in early teens and up is a possible seedling. So I will be wandering around and hoping the last of that fair fortune and my Wunderblus can help me out. Like I said, part of it is tracking, though the cracking is the more spectaular part. Nothing like shooting a forty year old accontaint in the ass and helping him get in touch with his inner redcap. talk about a furking test of diplomay. Don't worry, it doesn't actually wound em, but it does let me cchoose the terrain a bit better, and once I get close enough the scope will tell me what kith he or she is." He pats the telescope, which is the mortal treasure that in the dreaming takes on a gun form.

"Fascinating. Would you want help?" She gestures the nocker along, leading him towards the kitchen and Delores.

'As a nocker, I'm not a social type," He says "But as a Eiliethyian, I shouldn't refuse help. Could be a lot of patroling with no pay off though." Grosvenor follows her direction towards the kitchen, the smells making his stomach rumble. It would appear he really is hungry, "You planning on sending a thane with me or something?"

"Actually, I was wondering if I could help. Delores?" She calls out. "Delores, you about?"

"I'm not bad with blade, if there's trouble, and I'm not too bad at finding my way around the city."

"Oh yes? Sorry, preparing for holiday snacks and, of all things, the cooks are trying to figure out snake food " She approaches "oh, hello, I'm Delores, Steward here."

Ladybird sniffs at the boggan's apron, tail wagging. Surely she has treats!

"Grosvenor" He taps his medallion, "I find chrystalids. You know, that stuff does't smell like drek at all" A look to Deryn "you want to help? Huh. I admit, I'm furking surprise. Half the time nobles with titles like regent just sit on their sceptres and shoo a knight out or something."

"Well, if you would prefer a knight..."

Delores smiles, "Charmed" and almost means it I mean, nockers are't charming, but the mans' work is important. She might also slip a bit of a something to Ladybird when she thinks Sparrow isn't looking.

"Nah, just furking said I was surprised. Yeah, sure, ccome along. Long hours, lots of walking, posibly no pay off, but you're welcome to break your arches. Of course I may ask you to walk slightly behind me."

Delores is the BEST! Wag, wag, wag.

"Why behind? Delores, if you please, can we find something for our guest to eat? And maybe snacks for a long patrol - I know, holiday..."

"Have you looked at yourself in a furking mirror, Lady Deryn? I'm furking male, and still getting used to you. I'll be lucky if I don't walk into a damn sign post watching your rump when I'm supposed to be looking for the Fledgee to be. " A light blush again but it doesn't stop his bluntness

SHE blushes, but her answer is only a mild "Ah."

"Right away," Delores says, a slight scratch to ladybird's head, and then she calls out to the cook, "I need a travel bag of grub for patrol, and one of those pasta dishes for here and now" Other boggans , the ones doing most of the actual cooking scramble

"Trust me, it's not you, well, it IS you, but it's also me and how I respond to you. I've popped open a sidhe before. Talk about a test of willpower. I used to be completely furking hetero before this job." He grouses, "But no, wham, newly emeerged sidhe near Arcadian perfection, even if only for a second, and suddenly I'm an Orlando Bloom fan. THAT they didn't warn us about in the training"

It would appear Grosvenor has certainly fueled the various boggans for gossip with the way he talks.

"Well, I will endeavour to be inconspicuous."

Her wings curl primly against her shoulders, gold and bronze feathers shimmering faintly. Inconspicuous. Riiiiight.

"Not possible for you I bet, but I appreciate it. I will endeavour not to drool over you like a drunken frat boy. No woman, no matter how pretty deserves that drek while she's trying to work at rescuing... " A sniff, "Okay, that smells almost as good as you look. "///Indeed, the lasagna is brought forward and put at a table for him//"Regent, would you like some too?" Delores asks

She laughs. "I probably should, if I'm going to be hoofing it for hours."

"Thank you, Grosvenor. I think I've been rather itching to do something a bit more tangible..."

Another dish is brought out for Deryn. Ladybird is now watching the her owner hoping for uncharacteristic clumsiness

"Oh, I can understand that. Desk jobs..." A shudder but he does eat. His table ettiquette is a bit rushed

"Oh, you beggar..." a chuckle. "And exactly Desk jobs. I prefer to be out and about." She eats with the swift efficiency of one who has known hunger.

Grosvenor enjoys the meal a lot ,and tries not to stare at his hostess' cleavage, even if it isin't currently cleaving. "Furking right. I mean, when I help some idiot realize how damn precious he or she is as a child of the dreaming, why bringing that inept twit to his or her true destiny makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I'm like "Welcome, you clueless moron' and I have to fight the urge to smile like a schmuk.. You see real tangible results in the field, you know?"

Another laugh, the sound of bells and birdsong. "Totally. It sounds very satisfying."

"Nothing better for me" He admits, "Even made me a better crafter, you know? Most nockers craft for crafting's sake, but... an end goal, a purpose to what the crafting will aid cause wise? Let's say I'mm..." He wipes his mouth and swallows "I'm pretty furking fufilled job wise."

"Good to hear it. And it's an important job."

"Yup" He finishes up, turns his head so his belch doesn't hit anyone, "you ready to go?"

She collects her plate and the nocker's, carting them to the sink. "I am. Ladybird, FIND COLTON."

"I think she's a bit young yet for patrolling. Delores, thank you! Cherylina, it was delicious!" She calls out to the cook.

Off Ladybird goes!
