Imbolc is buzzing along at Earthern Rings. The Steward new to her job, if anything has over done the food.

The Chancellor has been eating like a bird. That is - about half her body weight. To compensate, she's also been trying to keep tabs on everything, especially candidates for positions.

There's pies and cakes for every persuasion. There's steaks and fish dishes! There's potatos in all forms.

Coradel has been circulating among the guests and visitors, greeting and welcoming and smiling.

Shalimar groans carrying a dish "So..heavy." Faux staggering

"Oh, let me help." And she swipes a canape from the platter. "There." A wink to him.

Shallimar chuckles. "Saved again"

Delores mutters "it was funny maybe the third time'

A small stir, and Sir August is there, moving quietly up the side of the hall. He is in his court best.

"That's flipping amazing" A young satyr says as Mister Bowman juggles.//"No what's amazing is the forces in play. Science isn't banal you see, especially when you realize how it's more guidelines than rules for us at times."

Indeed - a night for dressing up. Sparrow is in blue and silver silk.

The childlings have been split somewhat, each pestering different would be warders.

Sparrow does pay attention - especially the mine refugees. And Caitir the Tyrant.

Coradel is in her court finest, as well:

Ludmilla looks at Catir, "My leg has an injury yes, but I'm sorry darling, this isn't the time to show it to you. Still, I can tell you're a natural healer by nature. One time, I got a burn along my arm here..."

At least one face in the crowd goes sober.

She finishes nibbling on the treat she liberated from the pooka, smiling, the turns to catch sight of August in his finest...and pauses, appreciating the view.

Leonora is dressed in something more akin to a little red dress, but this being the dreaming it has streamers of a sort floating about her. Jennette is in an elegant backless evening gown of dark hue, but the amethyst earrings shine bright. Her hair coifed up high. Indeed, all the court ladies seem to be sporting outfits fetching and or fine.

August.... exhales. Slowly.

Magnus and Claire are holding hands. They haven't been seen much lately save on duty, but the hand holding is a good sign.

She grins slowly, noting the effect she's having on him. She's finding him equally...inspiring...and she starts a slow progress across the room to him, a lioness stalking.

He stands.

Inish, who always dresses nicely looks tempted to approach the Baroness Freeholder,but then sees her approach August and motions some folks in the wings to wait

She meets him, pausing a pace away. "Hello, my husband." A warm smile.

Sparrow quietly beams, and floats over to a place near the Beaumayn.

He puts his hand on his chest, and bows, then rises. "My Lady." Quiet but warm.

"You look lovely," Jennette says at sight of the lady liam's garment

"So do you. Thank you for the escort yesterday..."

"Thank you for allowing me to escort you," A smile, "Your house is so lovely."

A mirrored gesture and a deep curtsy, then she moves beside him and takes his arm.

Squire Colton is yanking at his collar.

Her smile is subtly radiant.

"I know! I'm so lucky to have my friends..." She raises an eyebrow. "Cole? You doing okay over there?"

Then she notes Inish being Inish-y. "Yes, Herald?"

"I may need the jaws of life later," Yank

'Sorry to trouble you, Baroness, but tonight is the time for the troubadours to show their skills? Shall I have them play one at a time, or just cast them out to far corners and play at the same time ? or..."

The last from Inish, of course

"Oh, just undo a button... this is supposed to be fun."

A blush "Thank you, Baroness Deryn. Nice dress." He looks around

"That is a very good question." She thinks for a moment. "Have we enough rooms for each contender to take a separate venue for an hour? They may play for whomever wanders near them, or lingers. And then, after the hour, each may come and play before all assembled. Does that work?"

"We can arrange that," He bows, and smiles, then moves to the troubadours who wait in the wings, directing each to different locals.

A murmur to August. "You look very, very handsome, my love." Her fingers glide over the sleeve of his silken shirt.

"You are... ravishing, my wife." He whispers back, his hands warm but politely along her body.

Sparrow takes Jennette by the arm. "Come, let's go see them... I am dreadfully curious about the sluagh..."

Music plays here and there... and each person may wander to a different section.

"Perceptive, as always," she teases, moving towards the Holder's chair on the dais. "I want to address the crowd a moment...join me."
