"Oh, heavens, the Fiona nonsense that happens in that hold..."

"I can imagine" Clem chuckles "makes my midriff bearing look quite modest I suppose"

"Somethings I've seen and heard in that hold I cannot unlearn" earl agrees

A long-suffering sigh.

"But - more immediate than family, Earl and I have begun exploring the idea of a house. We cannot spend all our time in the freehold..."

"I was about to say, Bedlam and Dreamstruck problems are possible"

Clem then inquires "So near Earth RUnes hold, but.. do you have land, a plan? Do you need help with the building? Or buying an existing place?"

"Well... we are looking to build, aye. And there was a thought, about materials."

"Oh?" Clem perks up . Earl nods, and Clem goes on "Something we can help yoiu with there?"

"Well, building a house takes stuff. And... mayhaps.. we could purchase some lumber, some stone? Things of the Farm, to use in building?"

Clem is a troll and can be stoic, but Zara knows enough about trolls to know when they brighten in delight "Of course! Why we always have material for barn building ready, so wood will be plentiful and carefully treated. Quality stuff. As for Stone, my daughter could find you some quality stuff ready to pluck up. We have less of that, of course, but we're normally happy to get rocks out of a field. As for other things, well.. case by case but I imagine you'll get alot of offers. Everything from Quilts to weather vanes"

Earl chuckles at the Weather Vane comment "Want a rusty rooster on top of the house twisting with the wind?"

"Oh, one that is old and hath mouldered in a barn for decades, disused."

"Hopefully creaky?"

"I believe it is," Clem says "Rattles a bit in the really hard winds"

"As if it were about to take flight" earl says, surprised Zara is interested, but then realizing he shouldn't be. Zara like things with a history

"It sounds perfect."

"It's yours" Clem says "We haven't given it proper use so nice it will be appreciated. Anything else?"

"Mm." She looks at Earl.

Earl ponders then says "Do you think the Scarecrow would give me some straw from himself? or part of his tattered hat?"

Clem looks stunned "Earl, why would you want that? That's a... an unpleasant fellow at times"

"Maybe to you, Clem, and the others. But while he was scary, he also kept my bullies away when I was younger. I could sit there and while he might tease a bit, he teased EVERYONE, and no one could come by" Earl remembers "he was a haven, though I'm sure he'd be offended if I worded it that way"

Clem looks guilty. She couldn't always protect Earl, and the failure makes her ashamed "I"m sorry about that, Earl. Ask him, for you and Zara he might say yes"

"I rather like him. He is pleasant company."

"He's disturbing" Clem mutters "Once told me I'd bleed for the hold and none would lament"

Earl arches a brow at that

"Tis the burden of Chiefdom. Unfair, but no less true."

"mmph" She says

"Have you not?"

"I suppose, doesn't make it any less spooky to have someone tell you that when you're a young wilder though" Clem observes "Ask him when you like, of course. Me? I'd go for a quilt"

"I think I will, one of mom's" Earl says "But also the scarecrow thing"

Clem nods "Okay. Now, as for lumber again, no trouble. We got more than one type of wood available for you come to think of it"

"We can pay a fair price."

"Oh pshaw" Clem snorts "We provide for family, Zara. That means you. Sides you've done enough for folks here in the past that no one would say you ain't already prepaid out of kindness and consultations. You even got our book club up to snuff"

"You really did," earl agrees and looks at Zara "Remember how thin the library was here before you helped out?"

"Oh, I do."

"Well, there you go then," Clem tuts "We got spring magics that lets us grow materials a bit faster if need be and a Kubera ally aside. It's all good"

"Now, come on, we have Cedar, some Cherry wood and... "Clem glides them over to where barn raising materials and more are kept.

And Zara gets to pick her preference which will be reserved for later transport. As for Scarecrow stuff? Well... that talk is for later
