Emerson takes a deep, steadying breath and turns to the childling. "Slyfoot. You seem well."

"Sure am" He says bounding up and giving Emerson a hug "Did you bring me something?" Hopeful

The boggan pats his pockets. "Hm."

"Ah, here we are." He discovers a yo-yo and offers it pleasantly enough.

He takes it, then remembers his manners "Thank you more than peanutbutter fluff and star dust" Another hug , and he takes the yo yo and ... has some difficulty with it. Could it be the boy has never used one?

"I'll wager one of the other childlings can teach you how to use it. You can achieve quite complicated patterns, I'm told."

"Yeah ? " he says, tries a spin and nearly hits him self in the head, then blinks "Truly, a warrior's toy. Thanks!" And he says "I'm gonna go find a kid now, okay?"

"Run along, there's a good lad." he encourages.

And off the boy goes, yelling "Guess what I got... fairy godfathers are real, yo!"

Clem looks over amused at Emerson, "THe boy's taken a shine to you"

"Mmph." a grumble.

CC says "I fear the shine's not mutual, but who knows? Slyfoot may wear him down"

"He's a charming lad."

"He's challenging, boy sure loves testing limits, but also has a good heart" Clem observes "I think his mother's been worn over by the free babysitting as much as anythning"

"Well. Pooka."

"True" Clem nods "Now, how are your two new applicants working out?"

"I am disinclined to rush to judgement, really. They are learning the work."

"Well, they best be on good behavior." Clem mmmphs "Some elders are skittish about young ones going so faR.. and I have to point out KC is not that darn far away, but if they shame the family it'll set movement back"

He manages not to smirk as he points out "Quite a bit closer than New Jersey, at least."

"Or Tijuana," Clem admits

"Indeed."

"For an 'isolated farmhold' you DeBukes do get around" CC smiles "They've been a boost to the club"

Clem blushes "About that, I hear you've been giving discounts to visiting Debukes on dinner and so on..."

CC cuts her off, "Now Chief, we ARE Family now"

Clem mmms "Well, I know that but I don'tr want them taking advantage"

"It allows me to try out new dishes." with a smile "Always a pleasurable challenge."

"Speaking of dishes, " Clem says "Hoping you folks will join us for Kourtney's latest? Our new Hearth is trying some out of town stuff... her cullinary ronin phase put to use"

He lifts an eyebrow to Callidora, asking.

"Love to try some, but does she want Emerson to give honest opinions or keep it down? He's something of a expert himself. I remember how he nearly burst when he WANTED to tell me about my over use on nutmeg in one dish" CC smiles kindly

He tuts. "It was just the difference between the bottled stuff and a fresh nutmeg, Dearest, you don't know until you try it." he excuese her small mistake.

"It's true" CC says "It really does make a difference" She chuckles

"Oh, Kourtney's a big girl. ANd she is still eager to learn so long as you're nice about it, feel free to critique" Clem mmphs "Thin skin does not work well with farm living with such a large family"

"Understandably."

"Well come on then," Clem invites "CC, why don't you return your grandson?"

CC hmmphs and gives the kid a squeeze "Tempted to fight you for him. But yes" She sets Cooper back and then follows

As does Emerson.

The meal that awaits them is... French!

Cassoulet with Duck Confit, and a lovely Soufflé await

An eyebrow, again, at this.... he glances; are all the DeBukes so served?

Actually, yes.

At least a dozen of them.

Some are eying it cautiously

"Did she know we were coming?" He asks Clem.

"She did" Clem admits "But she's been itching to show off a bit" She glances over to her family "Folks, it's got Duck in it. You've had duck before. And Souffle is just bread I reckon so... Dig in"

"Just..... bread......" he murmurs softly, astounded.

"Steady" CC says gently, but then adds in a whisper "Later we'll take the grandkids out , one by one, and make sure we can 'aid' in their culinary education"

"When they have teeth." but he seats her and then himself.

There is a moment of silence, as is typical here, where folks give quiet thanks to the land, the dreaming, and whatever they find holy and worthy of gratitude.

Then Clem says "Let's dig in"
