Narrow eyes.

Sylvi is about to respond to Zara when the voices come through. She scowls...and flicks a nearby dishtowel out the window, hopefully just catching somebody's ear. "Oops! Clearing crumbs. You might want to steer clear." A charming smile.

Mutters but whoever it was moves

"You didn't have to do that, Sylvi" Sally Mae says, but in a lower voice "But thank you. Mostly I need to take my lumps"

"Feh!"

"I have a feeling you're going to have plenty of more opportunities. You don't need to take all the lumps. Greedy," she adds as a gentle tease.

Then back to work.

"They claim to be soooooo seelie, and FEH."

"Seelie doesn't mean 'nice.'"

"Nay, but they also claim that love matters."

"Honor and duty tend to come first with most trolls, " Sally mae says "And I did get a rebellious thrill on top of it all having a sidhe boyfirend. That's not why I kept dating him but..." Sally Mae shrugs

Sylvi sighs. "They think they're showing love. For their farm, for their traditions, for Agnes."

"...feh." Angry whisking.

"Hey, SallyMae, nothing wrong with that. I mean, I get how you're feeling, but...like you said, it's not all about rebellion."

"I mean, if anything shows love, it's showing up to do the work when you know that the work needs to be done, even if people make it difficult for you."

"no, Carowyn is a good man." She says, not hearing the heavier footsteps that a wilder would make, "Gentle, kind, and caring for every form of love a mortal can have. He worried for me, that he'd be trouble for me. I told hi mI was a big girl. That love was something I wanted, head aches and all.."

"And thanks, Sylvi" SHe says

Sylvi gives a sympathetic grin. "Darn love. Doesn't show up at the right times or with the expected people...."

She glances up from her work to see who's approaching.

"Aye, the most contrary and intractable thing."

"And it's worth fighting for" A young troll wilder in full Fiona garb approaches. Sir CHarles hides his silver lion normally so not to upset the DeBukes that took he and his sister in, "And you owe no one an apology"

Sally Mae turns "Charles? what are you doing wearing that out? Folks are upset..."

Sylvi blinks and nods. "Sir Charles." If he's going to walk the walk, she'll talk the talk.

Charles says "they're upset anyway. " He says unafraid with a shrug "maybe it's time for the queers of the Clan to come out of the closet, so to speak... or in my case, a Fiona. Take the heat off you a bit... and frankly, Ariel's friends were treat abominably." He smiles at Sylvi "Emmisary"

"The little satyr... she.. ohhh, no, did that child sidhe come here? I'm surprised it was allowed..."

"It wasn't" Sir Charles says "She and her pooka friend snuck over. Pert was a gem... but Agnes was.. distrustful to the point of nearly interogating the little girl "

"I imagine quite the shanda, a sidhe on the grounds." A little frown.

"Wow. So folks were already riled up before the news about SallyMae."

Sylvi looks worried. "I should speak with Chieftain Clem. When we're done here." She waits for Zara to finish whisking.

Zara nods, and passes over the bowl of dressing.

"Well, Ariel adores her new friends so she's ...very angry at how they were treated" Charles says

And soon the slaw is ready.

And so is the fish

"SallyMae, Mom says I should stay a few days to help. I brought my stuff. Do you know where there's a spare bed, or should I ask the Chieftain?"

"You can set up with Kourtney. She's been a god send" Naming Kelby's younger sister

A bit of a grin. "Can do, thanks. Um...you okay with me going to see Chieftain Clem now? I'll be back," she adds.

"You head on, Zara and Charles are here to help" She hands Charles a tray of fish

"I walked into that, huh" CHarles smiles and nods ready to work

"You did" Sally Mae says in a tone a lot like Kerri

Sylvi grins and grabs up her backpack. "Be back soon," she promises.

"Then you'll be working again soon, and thanks again" Sally Mae says

Sylvi considers dropping her bag at Kourtney's cabin first, but opts instead to go straight to the Chieftain.

"Zara" Sally Mae says "I cant thank you and Earl enough for trying to take my side in this"

"You did not cause this, and it is unfair for others to cast aspersions. Not uncommon, no, to look for a scapegoat... but..." Headshake.

"I should have thought about how others would react" Sally Mae says frowning "I should have..."

"A heart attack? you couldn't predict that" Charles disagrees

"Nay. They are your family - their job is to support you, and to wish you love and hapiness."

"To deny love because another might disapprove? Feh!"

Charles smiles at Zara "Miss Zara. We don't know each other well, but.. it's an honor"

"Nobles are a threat to us, Zara.. jjust not all of them" Sally mae says
