Sylvi arrives over the footbridge with a full backpack and a basket of foodstuffs.

Dogs bark, it would appear the sire, dam, and kin of Oak and Eddie are on patrol in force, but when they see it's her they relax some.

A very uncomfortable looking Spencer turns. He's carrying a spear. No warrior, he doesn't look happy as a guardsman position but there he is. Then "Sylvi? "

"Hey, just me," she reassures them. She understands their tension; she feels it, too.

"Spencer? They've got you out here?"

"Yeah," He says "Hard up isn't it? You heard right?"

"Yeah, Mom told me. SallyMae got here safe, right?"

"Yeah, she's in the kitchen taking charge... but she's not having an easy time of it." A breath "Some think this is her fault"

Sylvi frowns at that. "Is that what you think?"

"I don't know what to think" he admits then says "Sylvi, I know you're good with people, a diplomat and all that- but tread carefully, lot of folks here on edge and may not take kindly if you try to ... get vocal about our ways." A frown "We had a fight between two of Sally Mae's cousins. One of them called her a 'stupid sidhe fucker' and the other defended her."

By 'defended' his troll expressions indicate fists were thrown

Sylvi scowls, but she nods, too. "I'll hold off, as much as I can. I'm here to give her back up, maybe be an intermediary so blood relations don't have to do that. Can you tell me who defended her?"

"Yeah, Costner DeBuke" He says "Kinian... but damn near tough as a troll. Sometimes the fae blood gifts you"

She nods. "I think I've met him, but I don't know him well." A pause. "Want to tell me where you stand before I go in?"

He looks her over "I think Sally Mae didn't think this through" Then a frown "I also think its wrong that we live so she had to. Not sure if that answers your question or not. Right now? I'm guarding this patch of land.. and I will protect Sally Mae, and Agnes, and the Chief. I'd rather be doing anything else , singing especially, but you asked me where I stand. Where I need to be to help"

That seems to be enough. She nods. "You can sing protection, too," she points out as she turns and heads for the kitchen.

Spencer ponders this, and then as she heads off she hears his golden voice hit a song that ..she's never heard him sing before....

"There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me i got to beware"

And into the kitchen she goes... young childlings scramble to do hearth help

Some have been crying... trolls don't cry well. Their stoic little faces aren't made for it

Zara is there, guiding small (well, medium) hands to tasks.

Sylvi makes sure she's wearing an optimistic expression before she enters. Not happy, certainly, but confident. "Hey! Need help?" she says as she enters the kitchen.

"Miss Zara? I didn't realize you'd be here." A glad tone, along with the surprise.

Sally mae peeks out "If you're in here you're working... so yes"

"Miss Sylvi. We art making lunch, if you wish to aid. Know you how to make slaw?"

then gentler "thank you, Sylvi. Zara came when she found out."

"I can slaw, sure." She sets her backpack out of the way and brings the basket to a table. "Also, Mom sent some stuff along. Muffins and so on."

"The universal language of mothers everywhere, nu?"

She knows the Farm kitchen layout, at least the way it was when last she pulled dish duty. She gets things together and gets to work.

A smile to Zara. "Yeah, I guess so. The best mothers, anyway."

"Just set it there. " She nods "And I'll be sure to thank her later if I can. Yes, you help Zara with the slaw. I'm working on the main meal here."

She looks to the childlings "You kids are doing fine..just keep setting out the placemats"

"No problem."

They nod, some look at Sylvi and smile just a bit

She grins back at the kids. "Good job," she encourages.

"Troll kitchens always have the most interesting problems of scale." Zara observes as she measures out sugar and vinegar.

Then she focuses on doing the work.

A grin at Zara. "I'm afraid to ask what problems sluagh kitchens present."

That gets a surprised smile.

Chopping cabbages, efficiently creating a mound of shreds.

"In truth, I have only ever briefly visited one sluagh hold. There was, of course, tea."

"Rivers of it I imagine" Sally Mae says as she cooks the fish

"Tea...and stale cookies? Or is that just what you tolerate from us to make do?" Good natured question.

"Oh, a perfectly stale cookie is a delight - it crumbles so softly, nu? Though, truth, there is an art to aging food. Fermentation is one option... know you Symon? His mother makes excellent kimchee."

"And she a boggan!"

Sally mae focuses on her work, adding touches, Fish, even freshwater fish, isn't something often served in bulk on the farm. So this, this is a treat for the clan. Or should be.

Sometimes figures walk by the windows. Zara hears them clearly... but Sally Mae and Sylvi also pick up

"She damn near killed Agnes and now she's taking her spot? What are we, Klingons?"

Sally Mae stiffens just slightly at that, and then keeps working
