Well, THAT clinches it. He knows almost every boggan there by name. Perhaps Lilac Roda travels. Perhaps it's something else.

A peeved exhale.

"Could you just accept that maybe a boggan felt a call of the needy, and took a bit of mercy to do me a reading and was legit?"

"No. There is something... on the tip of my tongue, a teasing echo of a memory....."

"Bah!"

Sigh "Fine. Fine. Maybe ask mom about it. She knows folks"

He freezes. "Does Callidora know about this?"

"No. I never told her. ..as a favor to you by the way, because let's face it, mom is a gloater. And to have someone show up saying the verything she's been telling you? It would have really been too perfect for her" He said

There's a truth in that.

"Hmmph." But that reassures him. A little.

"Lilac Roda....."

"That was the name" He shrugs

"I doubt very much it was." Dryly.

"Look, believe what you want, but me? I'm convinced by her. And also, I feel better with you in my corner, Pop Pop Stodgepole" He rises "I better get in there and face the haze/celebration"

"I have not agreed to this!" He protests.

"Sure would make me feel better if you did," A nod "But...oddly, kids give me a perspective that means I'm not above walking over someone for their betterment. Later, William" A wink and he slips in.

Why that ruthless big hoofed... mmm bit more like his mother than he knows

"I hope you choke on that cigar." Darkly.

Speaking of Caesar's mother... Lilac Roda.

CC comes ouut, happy as a lark "How's it going over there in Boy's town?"

Oh dear. That is not a good look. He may be having a medical emergency.

"Oh...what's wrong? Did they try to pass off fermented Gingerale as Champagne?"

"Callidora. Did you, in any way, attempt to convince Caesar that it is my destiny to be of aid to his children?"

"I've been trying to convince both of you of that for months" She rolls her eyes

"And to what lengths did you go to convince -him-?"

"Why do I suddenly feel I should hire a lawyer?" A brow

"Callidora, either you have been meddling, or I have a serious issue to deal."

"I have been meddling" she admits

"How?"

"Sweetie, a woman likes to cultivate an air of mystery. WHy don't you just tell me what specifically has you so riled up before I confess to anything that might have you scowling on the way home?"

"Lilac Roda."

"Lovely name" She says "Can't say I've ever met a satyress with that name though" She's very good, skilled, wonderfully adept at deceipt, but that insighti nto each other works BOTH ways. That was a brief flash of 'damn, you got me' in her eyes and turn of hoof. Brief, but up long enough

"I see."

"Okay. I MIGHT have faked a sooth sayer situation hoping to convince him, and through him YOU, that you would be the greatest grandfather in the world"

"Ms. Roda, you really haven't the slightest concept of what you are talking about. Please excuse me."

CC sighs "I..did it a month ago, I lost my head. I'm sorry. I'll confess to Caesar"

William walks away.

CC lower her head and sighs

Damn it. She thinks, but chasing after him will just aggravate him more and.. a huff I screwed up

Emerson does walk by someone he didn't expect, Clem. The healer chief is not with any of the babies or mothers.

She does see him, "Mister Stodgepole, are you okay?"

"Please forgive my shortness, ha, my brevity, Chief Clem. Your hospitality has been impeccable as always. My best to the new mothers. I do hope to visit again."

"Hope you do," She says "Mister Stodgepole, You helped more than one of the mothers deal with the pain as much as you safely could. I've been warned about your past behavior, but I can only judge by what you're doing here and...well, it's helped me and mine. I'm grateful, and I thank you." She offers a hand

He takes it and is enveloped. "You are most welcome, Chief Clem."

The shake is firm, but not over powering, and seems sincere. When it ends, she nods "I won't keep you if you're wanting space, but you're welcome back when you like"

"Thank you again. Excuse me." And he steams off.

And off he goes.
