"I ..." June Maude winces "You must think I'm racist or..well, Kithist."

"Living with a satyr can be a challenge." with a teasing look at Miss CC.

"Now, if the child is a boggan, or boggan-blooded, you should have a delight in the making." Sip.

CC rolls her eyes obligingly.

"I don't think that's in the family at all though we have boggan friends" June Maude says

"Miss CC, any boggan blessings on your side?"

"I just... well, if you only want to visit" June says "I guess you and Caesar could do that..now and then. I just don't need ...help. Though some of my family would say otherwise" A sigh

"Visits are an excellent beginning!" A toast. "I hope a few gifts at appropriate moments wouldn't be of concern? Birthdays, holidays, so on?"

"Not that I know of, but I have been accused of having pooka tendencies" CC Smirks at him

He chuckles at CC's rejoiner.

"Well, we have our own take on holidays around here but I guess it would be dishonorable to... look, I just... you know, that night was High Summer... and it's going to be very hard to have my family understand...what with all three of us..." Blush.

"Yes, I'm familiar with the spirit of the holiday." Understandingly.

"Well, the spirit was willing the flesh wasn't as protected as we thought . My family is not going to understand as it is... and with Caesar tromping through they might see him as some sort of masher and me as some helpless victim..." Agitated

A genial chuckle. "If they think that about you, I have to wonder if they have met you. You are, I assure you, anything but."

"Perhaps you and Caesar could meet elsewhere, however, if it concerns you."

"Well.. I .. I Just don't want to risk it but.." A bite of her lip "Well. I don't travel often... costs money and I don't want any favors"

"Favors don't exist on birthdays, only gifts" CC assures

"Not a favor." He insists. "We want to see you and the child, it is only fitting that we foot the bill."

"I ...suppose"

"It's only logical."

"Maybe Sally Mae was right. Maybe I'm looking after my own pride than I am the child's good. She didn't say it that WAY but..." June humphs

"Sometimes Pride is all we have to lean on, but ... you have family and I bet they WILL Understand. Surely your sisters will support you... where support counts, in the heart. And I'm a satyr, I sure won't judge you. I'm just grateful for any chance to see a grand child. You see? I AM proud, but not so proud I won't ask for a little kindness in making THAT d ream come true"

"Your pride is not without worth." He says quietly but firmly.

"Well, right now it's having a hard time mustering. I've been very..bristly. I blame my redhair. Convienent you know? But...yes, if not ON The birthday then the day before or after I'll make sure he at least gets a birthday visit from us. I guess I can do that much. But none of this is for me. You understand? I have to show the other DeBUkes that I am not some vapid wilder chasing after some hunky outsider to coddle me"

"Of course not," CC says. And when the young woman isn't meeting her eyes, she whispers to EBG 'bit TOO seelie this one'

He nods. "You are a DeBuke. Strong on family, on duty. You'll raise this child as a DeBuke, to carry on the family. We're just grateful to have an acquaintance with her, to know her and for her to know us. We'll not interfere with her destiny."

Sip.

"well, you're both very... you're kind." A deep breath "Very well. Tell Caesar he may contact me and we'll arrange visits"

Stodgepole smile. "Thank you, Miss June. I know he'll value that. And I don't think it needs to be here, if it will make it easier for you."

"Miss CC may visit as well?"

"Yes. Of course, as may you sir. I wouldn't deny their grandfather" SHe says

CC fights a look of amusement

He clears his throat. "I don't lay claim to that honor, Miss June. But I might accompany her, thank you."

"Very well.. pardon me I need to ... I need to talk to someone. Please, feel free to remain her for a bit I'll return with a proper meal"

"Thank you." Stodgepole rises as she leaves, then looks at CC. "Shall we stay?" quietly.

"A bit," CC says "Long enough that I want your break down on this one. "

He shakes his head. "Not yet."

"Not yet?" A brow

"I admit, you've spoiled me ... you've got no read on her at all?"

"I do."

"Let's speak in private."

"We're alone now, honey" She looks at the small empty cabin they're in

He just clears his throat and lifts an eyebrow.

"you think we're being spied on?" She looks around, Kens "I don't sense it, but then again."

"It's a beautiful farm." He observes. "Did you notice as we arrived?"

"You mean the fact this place has the most powerful barrier wards I've sensed in years? Or do you mean that even though not all the farm is touching the Near Dreaming, the size is..impressive and the bale no doubt huge and strong itself?"

He retakes his seat, sips his lemonade, and nods.

"I would think you'd see it as a victory" Amused "A commoner sorcerer"
