"To a woman who used to look for sales on bread and peanut butter, they also seemed pricey. " A wink "Good thing I am a somewhat successful club. Speaking of it, shall we head to it for performances? You can kick the staff into shape"

"Yes, of course." and he'll get her coat and chauffeur her to the Club.

The club isn't open yet, prep must still be done, and Emerson takes too much pride in it and enjoyment for that matter to delegate entirely

And it's a good thing too. He senses tension in one of his female servers; she seems distracted. Troubled.

There is certainly plenty to do; Callidora needs to warm up and rehearse and he's got financial matters as well as kitchen and house prep. He'll manage things to be in the area so he can observe this troubled server.

As CC gives him a kiss and goes to warm up, Emerson sees the server, what was her name? Bobbi? Ah yes, short for Roberta. Bobbi sweeps around the tables, but she loses her system, pausing, and looking at her cellphone. Her dread is obvious.

Emerson considers if she has coworkers she's friendly with?

He'll take a quiet word with her, then.

"Sharleen my dear, how is your day going?" he asks avuncularly.

Sharleen turns "Oh it's going great, Mr. Stodgepoole" but she glances at her friend with worry

"Hmm?" he follows her glance.

"Well, great for me" A sigh

"Is there a challenge?" sympathetically.

A look "It's bad. She doesn't want me to tell anyone, but her boyfriend's gone full Y'allqueda on her"

"Does she need help out of the situation?" quietly.

"I think so..." A nod "I can't say more without breaking my word, but mr. stodgepoole she'.. damn it, there she goes again"

Bobbi is once more checking her texts. Normally she's more professioanl than that

"Mm. Help me get her to my office, please. Tell her.... ah, tell her that I want her to bus a few things from the office." and he bustles there, himself.

"Yes sir" She nods

He waits about five minutes and has time to arrange his desk, get files, etc

then Bobbi comes in "Sir? You..wanted to see me?"

"Yes, yes, come in.... " he closes the door behind her.

"How are you today?" as he moves around the room. There -are- a few plates and things here that could be taken away.

She moves to gather them "I'm.. .. fine."

"I..." Tears well up "Mr. Stodgepoole, I'm not allowed to talk about it..."

Then she checks the text, and he can see fear "I... pardon me. I can't work tonight" And rushes off!

Stodgepole seems rattled. He exits as well, a quick word to his stand-in manager, and he follows Bobbi.

Where social knack failed, perhaps stealth will succeed. And so he follows. Out to the parking lot

And sees her heading to a car, where another car next to it is idling

He falls into old habits, of being nondescript and invisible; useful traits in a servant.

Just some guy, and besides, the man stepping out gets all the attention

"The hell, Bobbi" the man snaps "I told you not to talk to anyone about this."

"I didn't tell mr. Stodgepoole anything" she says "Please, Paul, can't we talk about this?"
