"Pardon me, miss, Emerson Stodgepole. I'm the business managers here. Do you have just a moment?"

"Oh, yes, is this a survey kind of thing?" She asks "I mean, I have time. I'm Mina Cosgrove"

"Pleasure to meet you. I couldn't help but notice you're enjoying our headliner. I don't suppose you sing, do you?"

"Oh I love the music, but no I don't sing... I do tap, or did" She blushes "Haven't in over a year" then an admission "Now Jewel, she's my uhm.. friend , she sings but ..she's not into jazz" Clearly she means the blonde

"Do you play at all, then? An instrument?"

A blush "Trombone, not very feminine I've been told"

"Oh, I don't know about that." he soothes "When was the last time you played?"

"my cousin's wedding, two years ago"

He cocks his head. "Would you like to sit in with the band tonight?"

"Oh i can't I'm on a date.." But she looks at her two table where both guys are fussing over her blonde friend "Sort of"

"Perhaps this will help to refocus the evening? Or, if not, gain attention elsewhere?"

A blush "But maybe in the back of the band?"

"Of course, come with me."

He leads her backstage to a small rehearsal room. There are some instruments there to include a trombone with a mute. "Why don't you take a moment and prepare?"

And she takes it , he can see she's impressed with the quality of the instruement "Thanks"

"Back in a jiff." he hustles off to find Callidora.

He catches CC between sets she sees him "Hey? What's up? I'm about to put Celia on for her number"

"Excellent. Do you have a moment to meet someone?" he fills her in with the quick version.

"That blonde knock off said WHAT about me?' then she says "Oh, right, the nice one. Sure... but we're doing something about Mina's friend, the jazz critic?"

"I think elevating Mina will be a blow to the blonde." he assures her "And I can take action afterwards if you like. Mina is warming up now."

"How nervous is mina? Little Gift help her?"

"It could do and Dearest... she is very much a fan. Give her a thrill and speak with her."

She goes to talk to Mina to do just that. Emerson can see CC put on her usual charms, encouraging the young woman

And while Callidora works -her- magic, he's off to a craftier result. A quartet of glasses, champagne, and a little treatment to one glass. He'll deliver this tray himself.

And soon he's 'treated it' and approaching

And out CC goes with Mina behind her .Mina meant to be somewhat hidden, but the rest of the band steps a bit to the side
