"I think younger generations find the Chieftain Brekke a hero and fascinating, and they might want to emulate her, not just the good brave part, but even her devotion to the crown... though... I suppose Brekke herself is not as ingrained as we thought. Mmm"

"I know, it's an Oath and Arcadian as well.... " Grumble "... but I have never understood her loyalty to the elves."

"Maybe she feels she can brow them in line?"

A dismissive snort.

"It does seem to be a most imperious brow" A smile though

"I have survived it unscathed." He points out.

"Yes, Dear, but that's a bit like a masochist surviving a whip" Humor in her eyes

He chuckles.

"Well, if you really want long term effects? Think on my grand kids. I think you have every right to make sure they realize how profoundly STUPID the noble system is"

"Ah...." Pleased, he leans over and kisses her. "A good point."

"Darn straight" She kisses him, "And you see why I'm selfish and keep you from conquering Rivervale. THIS job is more important."

"I never wanted to conquer Rivervale." He protests mildly. "Just corrupt it."

"I know, and I think it would be fun. Somehow Brekke as a barbarian viking chieftain who puts heads of Sidhe on Spears outside her lodge appeals to me... though I am fully aware she and Kerri would never go for fur or chain mail bikinis."

"Mores the pity." Amused.

"Frank would equally yummy in a dragon scale loin cloth with a collection of pointy years as a trophy dangling from a necklace"

"What can I say? He was on that road, until he met the Baroness."

"That poor man, his whole life path uprooted by a woman he found he couldn't be happy without" Straight faced

A pause, and then he gives her a -look-.

She has the decency to blush and cast her eyes down juuust a bit

"Hmmph." Grumpy. "Perhaps, but I lasted longer. -And- didn't fall in love with someone utterly on the wrong side."

"A very good point. You should write Frank a letter full of gloating. That'll teach him." Dimples

"Living well is said to be the best revenge." He points out.

"VERY good words to live by" She kisses him for having the right answer

"So. An enjoyable evening, all around. We should make plans to see the other month-Maudes."

"It was, and we should" She says happily

"Shall I send a note, or would you prefer to do so?"

"For May Maude? Probably best you. She responds to you"

He looks down "modestly".

"Ha. You know how to appeal to her greed and pride"

"Well, takes one to know one." Jovially.

"ha" A nod "i'll work on June. Really, we shouldn't have favorites? But APril is my favorite"

"Caesar's too, apparently."

"I noticed that" she says "mmm.."

"It is an interesting energy between them."

"Oh? Sometimes I envy boggan senses. Share share"

"Genuine attraction and respect. She is not -only- going to be the mother of some of his children, or a bed-warmer. She matters to him, and he, to her. I do not think she will stray, but I also do not sense she will demand he curb his nature. They seem to be very accepting of each other's needs. I think there are some lines, though, neither would wish to cross with the other."

begins to cry

"Dearest!" Alarmed, he slips to his knees before her. "Whatever is the matter?"

"Nothing nothing at all" She says "I'mm delighted.. I'm happy"

tears still flowing but she smiles

An astonished chuckle, and he gently dries her tears with his hankie. "I see."

"I know it's just... if it works, it's what every satyr really wants, someone who accepts and understands... like I have with you. But it took so long to meet you. If she's the one for him then.. oh while he's still young. "

"Our partnership is a result of our years, Dearest. We've discussed earlier meetings and might have beens; I would not have recognized the treasure you are in my youth." Gently. "But yes, if he can recognize what he has, and value it, at any age... how very wonderful."

Tears have stopped and she snuggles.

He nuzzles her back.

It's not sex she's after, though she would not say no and he knows how to stir her, but rather, she seems to be settling in for some serious cuddles

That suits him just fine!

"Well then. We're talk to the Maudes. I will keep my plans off Ms. DeBuke, and the Rivervale trolls may sleep soundly for a while longer yet. Our quiet little Balefire is renewed for another year. Beltaine approaches....."
