Near dawn in KC, on Samhain

The pale hind floats ahead of her hunter, light on her feet - they had spent some time under true stars. The Hunter did catch a moonbeam, after all.

the Hunter pursues, sometimes threatening to snatch her hand and tether her to him playfully only to let her slip away again (Well, let being a dubious word, sluagh stay when they wish)

She laughs, dancing away, teasing - they had found a park, full of trees to weave through, to hide in...

Her chuffs and whispered chortles delight him, and he plays. Not above using his wayfare to hop before her and surprise her.

OOC Are they sleeping in the park? Or is that yet to be seen?

Zara settles down on the grass, at the foot of a tree - a surprisingly sheltered little grove.

OOC: I don't know 🙂

BIC: He takes a seat next to her, and offers himself to lean against.

She leans against him. "Art thou tired? I wouldst sleep here, under sky and stars. Don't make me go back inside this night..."

"I can stay up a bit and watch over thee," He says "Sleep if you wish."

Zara twines her hand in his, grazing her lips across surprisingly graceful blue knuckles. "And Dream, aye?"

"As long as any good ones include me" He kisses her neck softy "I am selfish so."

"I am thine. Be selfish." She closes her eyes - stamina flagging after two long trod journeys and TWO samhain nights...

...arguably... three trod journeys...

He cuddles with her and tries to stay awake. He is still a troll, and while he works hard not to restrain her from her quests and adventures, the interaction with Balor at a party, and the fact they were thwarted by them in Albion is not lost on him. True, that's not where they are now, but...best not to tempt Da'an.

She sleeps, blissful and content with a trollish pillow.

He smiles at the way her nostrils flicker in her slumber. He wonders if she realizes that she paws at him if he takes an arm away. And the way she almost goes liquid like he is reminded of internet memes of cats 'poured' into glass bowls.

Blissfully ignorant, perhaps. And that is HER arm, thank you...

Well, Earl has always said she was disarming.

OOC how about a roll for staying awake, Earl? Is that reasonable?

OOC: Only if you believei n that ugly logic stuff. Goes to roll stamina 🙂

BIC: But eventually his eyes close, he's just too happy, too content and...zzz

OOC: 4,2,3 [failure] blah!

And so the night passes into day, and the soft lavender light of the new year plays across their features, an odd couple to be sure... but a couple, for certain. A cool breeze ruffles the hair, birdsong tickles the ears.....

((Somewhere, part of the William Tell overture plays....))

He opens his eyes when he wakes (When else?) the shifting of her hair against him in the breeze "mm damn.I fell asleep after all"

Zara, too, eventually opens her eyes... blinking slowly in a fog of mist and sleepiness.

There is something on Zara's lap.

A white box, like a bakery or jewelry box.

Earl frowns, and mutters low under his breath, a sinking feeling, unfortunately muttering isn't going to escape Zara's keen ears "damn me. Damn me. I fell asleep and whoever could have just...."

"Earl?" She flashes a smile at him. "What's this?" She picks up the box, opening it.

She sees tissue paper.

"It's not from me" he warns!

She stops, hands already in the tissue paper. "It's... not?"

There is something soft and solid under her hands, the tissue paper.

"No. I fell asleep. We better make sure the paper from Albion is still with us. And the egg, and... " A worried tone

"Aye. We must check..." She moves her hand, just so happening to pull on the paper...

"the last time you played with a mystery gift..." He holds his breath.

Just in case gas explodes or something.

"I'll be careful." Bristles a bit, a flash of stubbornness.

"I trust you. I don't trust 'them or whoever'" He says, then takes another breath again, half way expecting paralysis gas or knock out vapor or whatever

Inside, a glint, a glimmer. Something shiney.

She unwraps, taking care not to touch the shiny thing...
