Gerd is attending Court when the letter comes in.

Sir Dubh sees the scroll, the new one, from the Count "It would appear, Baroness" He looks at the name outside it "That the count has sent a new missive" A glance towards Sparrow "Shall I open it, or would you like to do the honors?"

"I'll take it."

The scroll is handed to her and when she opens it, it reads:

She rolls her eyes as she reads.

"That bad, baroness?" Gerd asks

Dubh also looks curious "Do we need to write a response?"

"He is lucky I am not a Gwydion." She rolls the letter back up.

"My honor is determined by the defense of my people, and not my reputation."

Clio takes the scroll "I'll enter it into the records" The scribe bows "Closed or open records, my liege?"

Sir Brynn frowns "I am a Gwydion, My liege. Should I take offense on your behalf?" An offer

"I don't need to hide his words, Clio." Resigned.

"Yes, Baroness" She nods

Gerd is curious "IS there a threat of revenge in the note? Should we be worried about Nessa?"

She shakes her head. "No. He has claimed credit for how generously he donated dross to our healer's efforts."

"An insult is a small price for that."

"That lying sack of.." Gerd catches herself remembering she's at court "Well, we know the truth. "

"He plays the game," Dubh says "I'd even say well, the lie will travel about the land and infuse his popularity. I wonder if it was he, or an advisor?"

"Honor is not a matter of reputation. It's a lesson Liam must learn."

"Sounds like he cares nothing for honor, merely prestige" Sir Brynn ap Gwydion frowns

Baroness Derynwydd has managed a mostly serene, resigned - even placid expression. But Sparrow's feathers are slicked down.

Nessa has made herself a bit scarce lately, mostly working in the gardens and surrounding trails.

"He commended the work of our volunteers, Sir Brynn. And I am certain you and the others comported yourselves with honor and valour."

"Well, my brother was rather DAIREANN but yes" A nod "In truth, I must give credit for Nessa. She has more leadership skills than I thought she would."

A wan smile and she nods. "She has a strong heart, and it guides her."

Gerd says "Baroness, I'm a troll" She starts, then just enough of her uncle vali is in her that she adds "Shocking news, I'm sure but it's true. I mention this, because some of us are 'problem solvers' and I mention THAT because it's a better term than 'buttinkski' or 'professional martyr'. I'm supposed to be heading home, but if you think this jerk is going to try to cause trouble I can stick around to assist. I can stick around a bit more if you think he's not too. At least a few more days. You're an ally, and a darn fine leader and I want to give you all due respect even if some stufffed up do nothing lion lord won't"

Another melancholy smile. "Emissary, that is a kind offer. Now, you know you are always welcome here - whether on official business or as a friend. But no, please, don't worry about this."

"Troll itis, but I'll try" Gerd nods "My therapist says a need for control even when control isn't possible can lead to anxiety, in a way, troll desires to protect folks can be an arrogance we have to watch out for. Her smile brightens. "It is beautiful here, yes."

"I met Professor Ham at the observatory, got some knick knacks from Bea at her store, though good lord i ONLY meant to browse... not sure that happened but I had a bag when I left. It's hard to believe that it wasn't that long ago these folks were terrified of strangers and lords. And of course your court, thrives. Troubadour Hamlin taught me a funny song I can't wait to share with my Uncle. He'll love it. " A Look about "Needs more witches, but other than that, no complaint" A wink and bow

"I'll take that under advisement. I suspect I just need to give Felicity time."

Wolf teeth flash , "Who knows? She's got promise. The kids here are some real characters." A thought "Ah, when would be best to offer Ashblythe a visit to RIvervale? I imagine sometime soon while summer is on going?"

"Oh, yes - I think before school would be best."

A nod at that "I think she'll enjoy it. Most troll childlings are startled to learn they have a whole kith culture when they visit. They come back a bit prouder at worst though"

"Troll Lodges are different, yes."

"They are, but freeholds like this ..." A look about "Gorgeous places full of good folk." A nod "And before anyone accuses me of buttering you up. I best take my leave. I left Clio some contact info for official stuff, and also my own number and email if you want. I'm pretty sure Good Ole Rivervale is as stable as ever. I'll pass on your kind words to the Chief and tell her that Brightwinds and Rivervale remain allies. Is there more?"

"Tell Sir Frank and Hearth Kerri 'hi' from me?"

"Gladly!" A smile from Gerd

"AHEM" comes a voice before Gerd can vanish

Mary Ellen blushes as that was louded as she intended. A large box of take away food in her small hold

Gerd shoots The Baroness a 'I'm not getting out of this , am I?" loook

"There are nuances to chefs that I do not understand, nor will I interfere."

"You a wise ruler indeed" Gerd nods, then takes the box "Thank you, Mary Ellen.. and Pepper and.. everyone in the kitchen. The Hearth will get it promptly"

Mary Ellen nods pleased. And shyly returns to her kitchen

Gerd turns back "I'd flicker flash out of here dramatically, but I worry I'd just be funneled down stairs again. Be well, Baroness, you and your court"
