It's even affecting the trods of other kingdoms. There is no knowing just how many changelings are lost off the silver , it could be dozens. Everything there has to be relearned. We have refugees healing even now below. Their wounds have to be tended too first. I thought you should know, Baroness. Our fortress held off no less than twenty monsters, and we only got a fraction of the nightmares that no doubt are going to come out screaming in the next week over the span of mere days. I advise the trods be shut down save for emergency services for that long. "

Sparrow grimaces and nods. "How do I best support your work, Rover? My knights and thanes have skilled blades."

Even as Hastien reports to the Baroness, Nessa is... snapping out orders? Politely, and only to the childlings, but yes!

"Irene, more bandages, please. Stu, more hot water over here. Grete, blankets, please."
"But it's HOT already-" The Wichtel starts to argue, and is cut off with a stamp of a hoof that gets her attention! "No buts. That troll has lost a lot of blood and could go into shock before she gets healed. Snap to it!"

Grete snaps to, and they head to help care for the wounded.

Irene only whines a little bit - she wants to help, but the blood is scary. But Nessa and Grete are brave. She can be brave, too!

Nessa points out that bandages can be held in place by ribbons of any color... silently apologizing to the Rovers in advance...

"Your knights and skilled blades will be needed on the ground mostly, but if any know the silver survival techniques well, we can't afford to decline their add" Hastien admits "We need eyes on the ground too though. Some lucky travelers might be dropped to the earth, but randomly, out there in the heat "

"So we need eyes as much as blades" He finishes

Stu moves with the hot water "Baby coming. One side"

Sparrow nods. "And you shall have both."

Cathir moves along and helps with the healing, memories of a past existence and training in healing very useful, but to her credit, she follows Neesa's directions. Now is not the time to fight over rank

Gerd smooths her dress ,feeling like a fool, and approaches "Baroness, my timing is ill, but if you have need of aid, I can call to RIvervale. And, my own gift at wayfare maybe of us to bypass the need for trods." It maybe the first time she's spoken here

"Does Olgar know of this mess?"

"And you're still lovely, Baroness," She compliments knowing it is an understatement "And no, I don't think so. I'm sure he will quickly but he was staying closer to home and doing more ground patrols while college was considered by some of our wilders"

Once the immediate needs are taken care of and wounded at least stabilized as they await their turns at healing, Nessa approaches.

"If you need eyes on the silver... my family, I know we'll all help. My mother is the only warrior, but we're all fast and fleet, and able to carry folk to the rescue if needed." There are times for Centaurs to be prickly about being seen as potential mounts... this is not such a time, it seems.

"But your father knows the mortal lands well, no? If pilgrims are dropped in the desert..." Sparrow grimaces.

Hastien gives a weary smile to the childlings that chose such...colorful bandages for him.

"Grete?"

"WHAT?" She calls, then realizes she's shouting. "What?"

"Grete, we shall need your help as well."

She looks surprised, but steps over. "What for? I mean, uh. How can I help, Baroness?"

"You are connected to the land as no other - between your understanding of the earth, and your... friends, the land sharks... could you also keep an eye for strays who land in the barrens?"

"Are there monsters gonna come through where the trods broke?"

"Yes, " Hastien says "But we will stop them" THen he realizes he spoke out of turn "Sorry Baroness"

"I mean, the sharks, I've TOLD them not to bite anyone even if they're hungry for glamour, and they come to me for feeding instead. But if they're ALLOWED, I can tell them that monsters are on the menu?"

Sparrow grins.

It's anyone's guess how much the land sharks understand, but Grete seems to think they listen.

"Yes. Your friends may bite the monsters."

"They'll LIKE that."

Ganbold races up the stairs, fighting panic that narrow spaces bring, the centaur boy says "Squire Rose windfury and Thane Redfang" Naming Nessa's mom and the troll thane guard captain "They just had to fight a monster like they never saw before. I ran all the way to tell you. Like a mile away"

The little mongol is covered in sweat. He really did run a mile in this heat as fast as he could

Nessa hurries to get him a cold drink, and a cloth to wipe down the sweat.

"Is Mom alright??"

"She was scary good" A grin "I think being related to a mongol has made her even badder ass" As if relations worked that way, but who knows, dreaming is weird, but his smile fades "SHe got a wound but won'

t come in. Says it's minor." A look "You know how mom is"

"Oh, excuse me, sorry Baroness..." Nessa is already running out the door.

"Go!"

Gerd watches Nessa go, then looks to the Baroness "If she's not in charge of your healers, she ought to be. I'll contact Rover Olgar by text. If he's not in the dreaming it should work. What would you like me to say?"

"I suspect the Rovers have their own priorities - once he knows, he will make decisions."

Grete looks up at Sparrow. "Can I go now? I mean, uh. Be Dismissed." She seems unsure if this counts as holding Court, but tries. "Oh! Can I take Catir with me?"

Catir loosk up from her last bandage job "me?"

"I mean, if the Baroness is okay, I'm happy to help" The Squire smiles

She nods. "You're a warrior! And you're not scared of the sharks."

"Are the patients stable? Nessa and Cathir are our best healers..."

Gerd is already texting , something she wouldn't do in court normally

"The ones below are already heather balmed and springed. THey're resting though" Squire Catir says "We may want to break out more dross reserves"
