"I Know I.." A curious look "Huh.. okay guess we're definitely focusing on Warpicks for you"

"You think so? Swords.. I mean, they obviously work. But they just look, kinda,.. flimsy? Like, if you tried to use them to pry something proper, they might snap."

"Swords are more flexible than some folks realize... but .. clearly you .. relate the Warpick? And there's no shame in that"

"That's a really fancy hammer." Irene observes. Where did she come from? The piskie is wearing a pretty purple cloak with a golden unicorn emblem!

"That a fancy cloak." Grete comments back.

Irene spins. "Right? And it has a UNICORN!"

"Yes, very" Catir observes the cloak

"And it's not just a hammer, it's got a pick end... " Catir adds regarding the weapon "I think Grete is going to get good withh it"

"Oh, like for mining..."

"And battle if need be..., " Catir says "Like you learning archery"

"Oh, right."

"How are your archery lesssons?" Catir asks

She bounces on her heels a bit "Sorry, can't wait for Pennons"

"Fun! Rose set up funny targets last weekend - like, printed out pictures of bad guys from movies so I could shoot them!"

Grete is giving the wooden pick a few practice swings.

"Don't forget to use your hips for added power" Catir says to the Wichtel, "You've got a lot of muscle all over." Then to Irene she smiles "Okay, that sounds fun. Like thwack...got Scar right in the puss"

Swing... "I wonder...." Swing... "Who would win..." flip to pick side, sweep and jerk "Vs. an archer?" WHACK with the hammer on to the ground. "If I had armor and you couldn't poke through it, I might get to you."

"But I probably would just go back down. Can't shoot me there, and I can wait it out."

"Oh, but you wouldn't get me because we're friends. Right?"

"Course not." She nods.

"But there might be OTHER archers."

"Like bad guys? You'd get the bad guys because you're the good guy."

"Like the huns in Mulan." If they have to watch Disney, that one is one of Grete's favorites.

"Well, if you hide from enemy archers forever, that means the other army can march on past you and attack your lands..sometimes you have to stick your head out and take a risk...but not stupidly"

"But the value of my lands is underground. If they can't get at that, they won't stick around, right?" She reasons.

"The animated version is better" She adds, it is known

"Just gotta be fortified to wait out a seige."

"Oh yeah, I guess wicthels would be great at a siege"

"But after..." Her eyes glint. "When the attackers run out of steam and give up? THAT'S when you get them back.

"Ever hear of sappers , in sieges?"

She shakes her head!

"Sapping, well, it was a way to force entry into a fortified structure. You dig a mine or sap under defensive walls, typically shored up by wood. On collapsing the tunnel, for example by burning the props, the wall would collapse... a skilled team of sappers could collapse your defenses during a siege and end it quick. Sometimes it could work in reverse I guess... you're cooped up in a siege, but a Sapper could create a underground tunnel either to get supplies in... or even to spring some sabotage out there. I never studied it a LOT ? But I saw something about it on a history show once"

"Bet Grete would be a good sapper! She knows all about tunnels."

Grete is... somewhat dazed looking... not entirely there. In her own mind

"Probably..." She agrees

"Grete?"

She mutters something under her breath... but then blinks, and looks to Irene. "Huh?"

"you spaced out there"

"I was thinking. About... Feldspar." That's not very odd (at least not for Grete). And not quite a lie..

"huh? Feldspar?"

"It holds the charges without danger of collapsing until you fire the powder... when the cannons cannot breach the walls, you have to go under..."

Catir whispers to Irene "She's having memory flashbacks or something. Started when she touch that warpick"

"I don't remember my past lives, really."

She shakes her head, pushing the memories to the back of her mind to try to sort through later. "I'm not sure I got out of that tunnel." She sounds... unconcerned about that, more matter of fact.

"If I had to do that again, I need a reinforced side shaft in case the main collapses."

"Wow, memories are coming strong. YOu might want to write them down, I do that all the time.." Realization "Time? Oh gosh.. " SHe realizes "Uhm.. Grete, we can practice later okay? I'm very sorry but the chancellor has a job for me and I forgot. You're starting off good with that pick" Then to Irene "Irene, love the cloak"
