Nearby Morthwly's eyes bug out. it's clear his Gwydion dar indicates this man is either a masterful liar or telling the truth

"Lord Shelby, welcome to the Barony of Brightwinds. I trust you are enjoying our little celebration?"

"Oh, in truth yes. I must apologgize for my boorish behavior. It's my way of testing the mettle of a new ruler's grace even when she must face an ass of a guest." the man's scowl is gone, "But I do confide I was EARNESTLY ready to be offended. As you know, the Chief of our Kingdom is an ally of the Nunnehi, as a brother to them. When I discovered rumor 'indigineous' cuisine was to be served, I thought it puffery or fakery, perhaps even somehow that my identity had been discovered. I am 1/4 Hopi myself so I tend to roll my eyes at such efforts. However, this was no braggadico. You have a truly amazing maestro in there who delivered the genuine article. It would please my liege greatly to know such a forward thinkg, heritage respecting leader has arisen to take the place of a tyrant he feels he acted far too late on. "

"Well, Harkson was... yes. But this is a new Summer, and a good time to look to the future. Chef Cliff is very good, though he does not prefer the spotlight."

"I do not mess with an artists' needs .. they have their temperment. Alas, I have several more holds to go to today, but.." He pats his belly "I have room for it. Baroness, joyous beltaine upon you"

"And you! Please send my regards to your liege. Blessed Beltaine."

Another bow, and the tubby satyr heads out, leaving a lot of nobles blinking.

Sir Brynn mutters "I came this close to asking him to step outside for being an ass."/ His brother smirks "I think THAT would have been a diplomatic incident"

"But such was avoided, gentlemen. I do know the urge."

They smile at that, and one adds, "Thank goodness this Cliff fellow is as good as that"

"He is. I wish he would welcome more praise, but sluagh ways are their ways."

"Baronness, care to dance?" the Gwydion brother offers

A bright smile. "Absolutely."

And off they go, dancing. She is breath taking, of course, especially in motion, and many an eye is drawn to her, and her sidhe partner.

After Bryndyn, she dances with Brynn. And Morthwyn. And Otha. And Redfang. Any who ask get a spin!

And if Nessa is there...someone gives the centaur a push

Centaurs are pretty sturdy... but this one wasn't paying attention to anyone as she lingered by a wall, and stumbles forward. "Eep!"

"Sorry, sorry... I'll get back out of the way." Carefully backing off the dancing area, before she can step on any tender feet.

"No no, no trouble, " Redfang says "I didn't mean to hog the baroness. here you go, young ladies"

"Oh, Nessa!" Sparrow blushes and smiles. "Would you care to dance?"

"I don't think horses - that is.. Centaurs.. are built for dancing. Not the way that nobles and such do it." Thinking instead of the wild horses that cavorted in the fields.

"Well, it's a big room. We could experiment?"

Somehow, a hole is being made big enough for FIVE Centaurs

Her cheeks color a bit, and she whispers to Sparrow, "I'll look silly!"

"I should tell you about when I was a fledge and a whacked a visitng Baroness in the face with my wings."

"And you won't look silly, sidhe grace has transitive properties."

She considers this... is it true? Sparrow wouldn't fib, would she? It sounds like it could be true... relenting, she steps forward and bows to Sparrow, legs folding just so, and then holds out a hand. "Would you lead? I've never danced before, not with someone else, like, officially. Just... by myself, to music..."

"Well, the most basic court dance is to make a circle... so..." She takes Nessa's hand, and puts the other around her waist. "It will be back on one, then to the side on two..." Gentle instruction, leading the fledge.

Forward, back, that is easy - to the side is a little more complicated, as her rump isn't quite sure which way to follow... it's good that there is a space cleared!

"See? And you just find the rhythm... one-two-three-and... one-two-three-and..."

The music is sweet, and yes, easy to dance to. Hamlin Snitch is a decent fellow

It's a good thing she didn't see the Pooka is the musician - everyone warns of their pranks, and she may have assumed this to be one with her as the butt! But the music is sweet, and yes, easy to dance to, and Sparrow a pleasant partner. "It's... not that hard, after all..."

"Just don't ask me to do one of those Italian dances. Waltz, I can do."

"This is a Waltz? One two three, one two three...." Her hooves lightly click the floor with each count.

"Yes! And it just repeats. It's good for talking to your partner..."

"It is nice... this is nice." She says, almost surprised, and smiles to Sparrow. "Thank you for showing me.."

"I'm happy to." Oh, she blushes again.

Nessa blushes in return, which causes blushing in tandem... to distract from it, she tries another turn, checking for clearance first.

Sparrow clears her throat. "So - did you try the food?" Safe conversation!

"Oh! It was really tasty. I think I recognized some local herbs... but I didn't realize they could be used for cooking."

"I am not a very good cook, so all I have is 'that's interesting' so far as spices are concerned. The little kebabs? They were spicy..."

"I've never really tried, other than sandwiches. I've only ever lived at home, and Dad did most of the cooking when mom worked." Relaxing a bit with the conversation, and continuing the movements to the music.

"I can make basic things, but my family didn't really go for anything more exciting than macaroni salad. The amount of mayonnaise, let me tell you..."

A laugh! "Mom would make Hamburger Helper, or Tuna Helper, when it was her turn if Dad had to go out... and sometimes we'd call Pizza Helper if it didn't turn out."

Sparrow laughs at that. "Oh yes, Pizza Helper is the best."

A sudden thought. "You came from another Barony, though.... didn't your parents have staff that would cook for them?"

"Oh, no... no. I don't come from money. My mortal family was reasonably comfortable - my father is a dentist, and my mother stayed at home."

"Oh!" She blinks, and then... "Does everyone have Fae parents too? I don't think anyone mentioned them... does that mean that I have other parents out there, somewhere? Or are our... our centaur spirits related too? Maybe that's what drew them... us... to us?"
