"Altitude helps" Bachdion says then grins "But I bet the ground level is halter top weather, Right Baroness?"

A nod and a smile. "Perfect for it, yes."

Earl gapes "My god. " And he looks out

"Earl, is all okay?" Bachdion says when he was about to say hello to Hope

"Very. .. look at this view" he says

Bachdion grins "It is nice. I prefer green forests around, but there's a certain grandeur to it no doubt"

"Oh, we have forests - need to look out the other end. I'm told Mt. Davis is a 'sky island.' Isn't that poetic? But it's also full of ponderosa pines."

"Oh I definitely need a tour, now" Bachdion says with a bow to Hope "I am Sir Bachdion, Knight of House Fiona. And who are you, loveely yet fierce maiden?"

"Maiden I.." A blush "I'm Hope I.. I work for the baroness"

"Hope has been serving as our Steward."

"Just temporary" she says "But it's an honor"

"Honor..." Bachdion kisses her knuckles "And the pleasure, are mine, Steward." A look "And your big friend here? Touch tall for a troubadour"

"Fa la lala " Little Joe says in a deep bass ddeadpan

"Little Joe has been our staunchest defender."

"The baroness is better than the baron by far. he was a monster. She helps people. I help people." Joe says simply

"Nice to meet you, little joe" Earl says "I'm Earl DeBuke.. knight of no house"

Little Joe grunts and nods "I"m going to take the ballista back now unless you want it kept here, Baroness?"

"For now - we should think about fortifications along the ridgeline in the near future..."

"Sounds like ajob for a dougal. or some nockers maybe?" Bachdion suggests

"do you need he-" Earl starts to ask little joe

Little joe just drags the ballista off like it was luggage

"Little Joe is a very self-sufficient soul."

"I think he's twelve souls in there " Bachdion jokes "But glad he's on your side. Now, Baroness, Steward.. can I get a tour? Earl and I hope to be able to flicker flash from here to Earth runes.. with your permission?"

"How... how are things? How did Cora and August take it?"

"They're proud .. Baron August , humbliest man I know, swells with fatherly pride. He's aa bit meloncholy too. You kknow we'll miss you"

"Well," earl says "With us acting as taxis, we can arrange for a visit from some Earth Rune folks when you want" he says

"We'll have to be mindful - the previous administration hoarded dross, but at the expense of much. Unfortunately, the trods are not the most useful, nor the most free. One goes to Jersey, but has Balor on it."

"We'll soon fix that" Bachdion snorts then he pauses and looks about "AH. interesting"

"I'm trying to atune..and I can but the glamour has a .. you feel it , earl?"

Earl nods "Yeah i t's.. like a slipperiness?"

"I'm not sure I understand..." She reaches inside for the tie to the balefire, still new.

"What is?" Bachdion says

"A defense. Apparently, flicker-flash is sent to the gaol."

"oo I hate those. You should be able to change it .. you're the freeholder. But.. I can understand if you don't want to" He ponders

Earl ponders "Actually that's a brillaint defense. this hold is isolated, elevated... and then to just try to flicker flash in... "

"Exactly. So long as we have a guard... or at least a bell?"

"That might work" earl says "But I bet Coradel will be huffy about it" A smile slips him

"Well, she doesn't have Balor breathing down her throat at the moment."

"She'll understand, but will Ladybird?" The Fiona asks with a hint of a smile

"Ladybird will forgive me."
