She tries again...and the ball does bounce around on the rim a few times before falling out, not in. "Well...closer, I guess," she says with a shrug.

"Yeah, but did you feel the elbow?"

Lupe reclaims t, and does a lay up, despite her short stature, her speed and leap is impressive

"NICE, Lupe!"

"I ain't lacking" Lupe admits, and gives the ball to May

"Yes, Lupe!"

May looks at Sylvi "Don't over think it, after a while your body remembers how to make the shot. Trust it' And she does a swish too

"I felt it, but seriously, this isn't my game. Show me what you've got!" she says with a laugh to her friends, stepping back to cheer them on (informally).

"ALso it's not all about the the ball in the hole. If you were playing for real, someone with a good eye and passing skills can lead to more poinnts in the long run than a deadshot who never gets clear. then there's defense" Lupe says and passes tthe ball to Dagmar smoothly

"Defense is a tall girl's game." She teases Lupe.

"C'mon, try me."

And they give it a run...

while they demonstrate, the woman in the scarf watches them, and the Coach nods and points, looking a bit smug

Sylvi claps and urges them on from the sidelines! No jumps or anything to distract...just to emphasize and showcase the players!

Dagmar, despite being big, is pretty light on her feet. She's a natural athlete, and more dextrous than one might guess with the muscles.

Lupe IS faster, of course. But reach helps!

Lupe is a human piston, lots of speed and endurance, but yes, in B ball, size matters. May doesn't have either girl's edge in aggression, but she's more confident, and she'll play defensee with the best of other tall girls

Sam's edge in strength shows when she gets cornered, and she tries a desperate half-court shot. However, it merely dings the hoop. "Aw, man."

"Nice defense, May" Lupe gives some credit to throwing Sam off there

May beams "Thanks. Guess that makes ME the King for the day" A joke

Sylvi keeps egging them on. "You got this, you got this!"

"It does! Now, think fast!" She goes to weave past her friend!

And another test of offense vs defense. Be careful thouggh, Lupe might swoop in and steal the ball

May and Lupe are a tough pair!

But Dagmar fakes out and passes to Sylvi! "ELBOW."

Sylvi has seconds before either Lupe or May gets in her face

"Wait, what?!" She manages to catch it and tries the shot!

It bounces off the rim -- close! -- and right back at Dagmar. "Sorry!" Sylvi calls.

"Hey, that did't suck" Lupe says "or at least, didn't suck as much" Encouragement

Dag catches and tosses it back at the hoop!

"Yes! I didn't suck as much!" Sylvi cheers, laughing.

"You didn't!"

The woman with the Scarf has pulled out a note pad

The rebound shot DO go swish!

"Smooth" May says catching the rebound and shucking into the hoop

Sam has an easy laugh when she's playing. Low-pressure game, a little goofing but never anything dangerous or cruel.

Sam also hasn't paid much attention to the stranger. After all, it's basketball, with her friends!

Sylvi goes to get a drink at the water fountain...and to surreptitiously watch the woman.

She might do some stretching-out...and try to get close enough to hear what the woman and the gym teacher might say to each other.

"... Samantha King, and this is just her having fun. She also does shotput and discus. She has arms like cannons"

She stifles a smile, then calls out, "Go, May! Go, Lupe!" as if her attention has never left the little game...and to make sure the others get their names on that paper, too.

"Gonzales, annd yes, some nick name her speedy... .. She's got good leadership skills, though Sam is showing more. May's a follower, but such a good team player any team is improved"

With Sylvi out, Dagmar teams up with one of the other girls in class - making sure to pass and share, not hogging or showboating.

"Davidson..." the coach says "Some reason you keep drifitinn to the sides?"

Sylvi blinks. "Um...little leg cramp." She stretches a bit to demonstrate.

Dagmar helps Jessie with her passing game "I just don'tt move fast enough"

"Uh huh" The Coach says, not buyinng it but lettiing it slide

Then, with a sheepish grin, she jogs back in and gets in on the passing.

"Nah, you're fine. Feeling rushed makes it harder. Breathe, then... " Toss!
