She finds another book, a picture book on Penguins. Emperors of Ice, Gentlemen of the Sea

"Okay got em" She goes to make the purchases "And we'll still check out the weapons"

Briars eyes widen and she turns a mottled color. “You think she’d like THAT?” Obviously not the penguin book.

She shakes her head. “Trolls be NASTY.” A laugh. And eyeing the cover. Maybe she might sneak a peek later. If NO ONE is around.

"Taking a gamble" She admits "Also why we're checking out the weapons..see, I get two gifts.. if she doesn't like one, I get the other to cover for it"

And they head towards the weaponshops,plural. Quite a few

Why there's even a redcap , perhaps the roundest fatest redcap she's seen... but he's got the arms of a smith. And his weapons are TERRIFYING .. mostly because they're constructed from things you wouldn't normally see. Chainsaws on a swing rope that snares to hold it roaring. A baseball bat made of metal, but with SPIKES. Sure, there are knives, once with grooves and barbs so that they tear up when yanked out.

“Could get some weapon care stuff. Since they already got their favorites.” She remarks, now the expert on gifts.

“Whoaaaaaaa.”

"Hey, that's a good idea" She says trying not to sound surprised.

A smirk.

Then she sees the redcap collection and tries not to make a face "Are those..really efficient in a fight?"

"Most people shit themselves before the fight starts" he says with a chortle "Nothing like a cheese grater enlarged for face size and super sharp"

“Yeah, see, if you take this one and rip through their arm meat, they won’t be able to hold a weapon.” She points at a jagged edged machete. “And if you let the blade get rusty maybe they’ll die of ten... tenta.., blood poisoning.”

“Hey, you should call that one the GRATER GOOD. “Like when they yell JESUS AUGH MY FACE WHY”, you can say it was for the greater good.”

"SHE gets it! " The weapon man says with a laugh "Winning is the goal, but making sure they're never the same after the fight... so they wake up in a cold sweat weeks later even after the heather balming with NIGHTMARES about the fight... that's the gravy"

She smacks her lips appreciatively at that. Or maybe just the mention of gravy.

"Ah... niiice" Gwen says "Pardon me, I need to buy a whetstone and ..other things... over there"

Briar lingers appreciatively before trailing after.

Is she retreating? But she can buy Briar a cool item here for yule and give her the gauntlets NOW and.argh

“You go on! I gotta see this. You think these would go through a stag femur?” And settles in for some business conversation.

"You kidding? I test these on all sorts of things... like, deer femurs? SIDHE like femurs. Trolls? MOOSE... this would cut through a moose femur" And he talks shop

Gwen shudders a bit Caps gotta cap but geezus

Soon, she's got some whetstones, a weapon rack of high quality on order, and oils to help fight rust and magically gleam violently

“We got an elk last season. Is moose bigger than that? I got to watch them break it down, and it was like a deer but big enough to crawl InSIDE the guts.”

"Canada BIG" He says "And unlike the two legged canadians, they ain't polite"

He describes the damage a moose can do to a person... in visceral detail ! And the damage a bone saw can do to a moose, even more graphically, explaining strength of blood spurts andmore. Even if she doesn't buy anything- Briar has a great time with a redcap grump who knows the joys of hunger for violence and how howling horror is so much better tahn the whispering terror of the slaugh

She enjoys the talk immensely! And had some fun ideas of how to dismantle the next deer brought in for dog meat. Because the dogs don’t mind if their steak is mangled...

Oh brainstorming is more fun when you're not too squeamish to put an egg scrambler through some one's ear drum and twiddle their gray matter to chunky goo
