As Dagmar works the stables, Stormwake fusses. There are flies here.

"I know. They suck."

She is at Star's side, checking hooves.

And her hair is being chewed on. Maybe checking for hidden treats, or maybe she likes the smell of her shampoo.

Stormwake swishes his tail.. and.. lets it CRACK hard like a whip! A fly smashes into the wall. HA! got one!

"Staaarrrrr, you get a carrot when I'm done."

Footsteps, heavy but not as heavy as one would expect.

She looks up.

Head raised and ears perked, nostrils flaring. No housewolves giving the alarm, so she's not on guard yet.

Jaymes comes up and mmphs ("Got a moment?") opening up.

And Star relaxes, waiting for her foot to be finished. A tail swish.

Dagmar tenses, then shrugs. "Guess so."

An ear twitch, and puff of breath.

She looks down, and carefully picks out some packed mud from Star's hoof.

"I can't help you with sidhe holds, the.. the fancy noble ones." He says after a halting start.

"Don't expect you to."

"I do" he says "I'm your father. I... I know I trained you to fight, not just me, but ... sometimes muscle means nothing" A breath "I learned that more than once"

Grunt.

"The salt mines weren't the only time" Embarrasment/Shame

"If you're mad, I wish you'd just yell at me."

Blink ("What?") then a shake of his head "Mad? Why would I be mad at you?"

"Been acting mad. Because I did something wrong, yeah?"

Next hoof.

"Dagmar" he moves closer "I'm not mad at you" and the Gwydion boon does.. not ping

She glances up, wary.

Jaymes looks at her "Your mother says I'm too proud" grunt ("Love her anyway") "So maybe, that's why this is..hard. I don't like not being able to help. To be able to come to the rescue. And in your case, where you were, if things had gone wrong. I'm not sure I could have." A look to the side and a low mutter "I was useless"

Scowl.

"You aren't useless."

"I need you!"

She stops, blushing.

"I..." He steps back then tilts his head "Well, this is embarrasing, but I need you too. That's why I got scared when I couldn't help you . "

"Well... well.. just don;t... stop.. don't do the Gerd thing where you get down on yourself for something that ain't your fault."

"I had to go help, that's my duty. That's what you taught me, right?"

"Yes, and .. that's why if anything went wrong I'd feel like I was to blame" he admits then tilts his head "The Gerd thing? Is that what we're calling it? Honestly curious

"She's blaming herself for Connor."

Snort ("Well, that's dumb")

Eyebrow.

Brow of confusion then a ffff ("Not the same")

"Mmph." (You say so)

"Stubborn" He says "Like your mother"

"Troll."

"Yes" He says then moves to her takes a breath, and puts a hand on her shoulder "I am not angry at you. And I ddiid not mean to make you feel bad. I'm GRATEFUL it went well. I am. And I'm sorry if I let my fears cloud over my pride so you could not see it. you went to help a friend and a lodgemate. You acted with honor in all things. I AM proud... my daughter will be greater than I. Perhaps she already is. That is every father's dream I think"

Foot-scuff. "I know there was risk, that's why I was careful. But, like... we had to go."

"You did" He nods "And I am glad you were careful. " A pause "What did you think of the place?"

"Honestly? Surprised out how normal it seemed."

"The trolls and boggans and pooka were all, y'know, decent regular folk?"

"Cruel lords can have kind underlings and vice versa" he admits

"True."
