"I was thinking of asking one of the guys from band class to the dance coming up. The Sadie Hawkins. Was there anyone you had your eye on?"

"I didn't think.... guys were... "

"Yeah... I know how it works." A small smile. "Kinda wondering - if you could pick someone to ask you... or, kinda... just give yourself an edge, catch their attention..."

"If there's someone you want to ask, Piper....that's cool."

She gives him a little smile, and runs her hand through his hair. She lightly plays with the dark locks, twirling them around her fingers. "I was actually thinking... about... pie. Have you ever heard of a chess pie?"

"Nah. Tell me." He is entranced by her, happily.
