*bzzt* Can we meet? Playground or something? Talk?"

Nabuni "I don't understand" she repeats again "You mean I can't possess ANYBODY? EVER?"

"GO. AWAY."

"I never stopped YOU from possessing anyone" This is true.

Adam heads to the nearby playground. Fast.

"I don't understand.." The little chimera's devil tail droops and she walks off.

leaving him be to talk to her friends.

Sam finds Adam on the swingset, swaying back and forth listlessly.

"..hey?" A worried frown.

He looks up. He hasn't -been- crying but... maybe a close thing? "Hey."

"Hey." She claims the swing next to him. "Wanna talk about it?"

"Sam?"

"Is there a way to.... to make it not have happened? Me... knowing about all this?"

She frowns and considers. "...probably. But are you sure you want.. it... I know, it's been rough, and it sucks."

He nods. "Yeah. I'm getting people in trouble and messed with and stuff. Can you take it away?" His lips tremble.

"I can't, I don't know how. And I don't think you're getting anybody in trouble, nobody I know of?"

He scrubs his eyes with the back of his hands. "No. You know Nab?"

"Frank, he would know how. Maybe Chief. But it'd take magic, and we'd have to take away your ability to see."

"Nab?"

"She's a... a chimera. Showed up in my room, part of the house, I think. Her and some doll. And my sister... she's going to get all this shit too? 'Cause she's the same as me. And...... and it amazing, and wonderful but.... but I can't.... I can't."

"Well, okay. So the chimera is giving you trouble? We can work on that. And your sister.. well, it's pretty rare that kinain can see?"

He gives her a red-eyed look. "Does it run in families?"

She nods. "It's blood, yeah."

"Yeah, so.... " He tries to breath in and ends up snuffling. "So."

"So... so if you learn the ropes, you can help protect your sister?"

"We can handle whatever hot nonsense the chimera is doing."

"She gets inside people and... an'... an she.... "

He shakes his head. "If I can't see her she's got no reason to do that, right? And I don't have to see..... and I'm not outside. Right? I play ball an'... an' you'll still know me, right?" Hopeful.

"An' I won't have to eat Dirk's shit or ... or...." His voice thickens and eyes well.

"Well... I don't know if she'd stop anything..."

A distressed look. "I'm sorry."

It seems Adam's afraid to move; he might spill over.

"Do you... I... maybe Sally Mae? She's a good person to talk to..."

A stiff shrug.

"I don't know how to help. I just... I know it's been rough, and I wish... I wish people would just lay off you. But... you were so excited..."

He shakes his head, dropping to look down.

"Not excited anymore. Yeah."

A longer snuffle; the dangerous kind.

"Well... fuck'em. Fuck the haters. Fuck the jerks."

"You want me to smash the chimera? And Dirk tries shit, I can handle him."

He shakes his head, dejected. "Nah. I just want it not to have happened, then you can keep it and stay with it an' everyone ... you know, all the Fae... they're fine. An' I'm.... ok. Back to. You know. Normal."

"Do you want to be normal?"

"I thought... I thought you wanted to be a knight."

A shrug. "Stupid idea. They won't let me, anyway."

"It's not stupid."

"Outta -all- the... the kinain.... how many get to be a knight?"

"Not a lot. Not a lot of commoners, either. Most knights are sidhe."

He nods. "Xactly. Nah. Better.... " He shrugs.

"But even then... it's just a title. Being a hero, that's something you could do."
