"Yeah but you do it well and don't get enough sunshine" She pats the horse that seems much happier

"WILLY!" A shout comes from down the trail, a warning of approach as Briar comes down the way.

"Looks like you're wanted, Willy" Dee observes

"Nah, she ain't wanted." A snort from Briar as she closes in. "She's got a personality that makes people wanna hang out with redcaps!" A toothy grin. "But Marigold's a frickin' bleedin' heart and she said to bring this, and if it didn't get here I wouldn't get no extra dessert."

She drops the lunch pail unceremoniously at Willy's door. "I AIN'T YER DOOR DASH!"

"How about Grub hub?"

"How about Fist Face?" She holds up a small fist. Then eyes the horse. "Did you break this one? Time for the knacker cart?

"NO, some asshole left a line of rebar half hidden on the horse trail. I marked the spot"

"But the horse is fine"

"Like it fell off their truck, or they planted it there?"

Willy pokes around in the basket.

"LOoked to hidden to just to have just fallen. I'd put money down it was planted. WHen I find out who did this I'm going to kick their ass"

A thick sandwich of Willy's favorite ingredients, carafe of hot coffee, fruit cobbler...

"Sounds like a trap. These are MY woods. If anyone be setting traps, it's supposed to be ME. Hey, you want I should whistle up Glass? We can have a HUNT!"

"I wonder if Gwen's pets would go hunting?" She ponders, then shakes her head. "Nah. They're too soft. One is a bleedin' heart and the other is a willow twig." Disdainful snort.

"Actually, glass does have the best nose around" SHe ponders "I wouldn't say no"

Willy examines the food critically, takes a bite of the sandwich. "Mmph."

It is, unsurprisingly, delicious.

She stops and sits on a patio bench, pulls the sandwich apart, and reassembles it with clean-enough fingers.

"Anything in there for me?" SNiff sniff

"No." flatly.

"Whatchu doin' to it?"

"You got nothin' else to do, go on to the kitchen and git your own."

Briar looks puzzled. "I didn't stick a nail in it or nothing!"

Though, now she seems to be considering that.

"Makin' it better. Ingredients are fine, not bad, but assembly counts for somethin'. Got the proportions right, but placement was all outta whack. Can't stack meat and cheese and lettuce like that, slides all over the place an' outta the bread. Can't tell boggans nothin', though."

The horse shifts it's weight and nickers nervously at Briar's scent of dried blood. A familiar predator is only slightly less unnerving than a strange one.

Briar growls. "Ain't NOONE tellin' Marigold she don't know how to make a F-CKIN SANDWICH."

"Easy," Dee says to the horse "It's okay. " The mare is skittish but well trained

"I -said- it wasn't a bad sandwich!"

And dee backs the mare to the corral to give her space to roam and move, distance from the cap "There you go. All four shoes on nice like"

Then Dee returns "Easy, Briar. The fact she's hoarding the food to herself and telling me to get my own is a clue she likes Marigold's food as much as any of us, she's just more tight fisted with the praise as we non nockers know it"

"Feh."

"Feh!" Briar growls back, adding on a finger.

"Language ladies, language" Dee says

but she smiles

Willy seems content to munch away.

Briar shoves her (tragically unwashed) fingers in her mouth and blows an earsplitting whistle. In the distance, dogs bark. It's only one that shows up though, the floppy-eared no-longer-puppy hounddog, Glass.

"Oh she's gotten so big" Dee nods

"Gwen showed me how to learn 'em to come when I whistle specific like." Proud. "Glass is the smartest of the lot, even if she ain't got the bite of Mischka's brood."

"It's like, don't send one of those big Budweiser clompers to do a race horse job, innit?"

"Just so... Glass is the best at what she does, and scents that would elude Mischka, Glass has. Sides, you got enough bite for you AND your dog" Dee says , getting her weapons on

Briar cracks her knuckles. A side glance back towards Willy's workshop. "She ain't comin? I bet she could bash 'un good with one of those big hammers if she wanted."

The sandwich is gone, and the cobbler is next!

"Willy, want to help us find out here who is planting rebar on horse trails?"

Where did Marigold manage to find perfectly ripe peaches at this time of year, and in New York? A hint of cinnamon and vanilla...

Yeah. It doesn't suck.

She looks up at the question, spoon scraping the last of the cobbler up.

"Screwin' up my work? Yeah, I better go along, sort those assholes out."

Briar gives a whoop! "A HUNT! YEAH!"
