"SHit, sorry" He moves to see what fell

The steel trash can from earlier has been set up - the room is HOT, and there is FIRE.

The metal bin spits fire and smoke, and Thistle is handling a pair of tongs to pull out a brightly glowing pot. "Shit happens!"

She shoves the pot into a metal bucket crammed with leaves and shredded newspaper. The heat instantly ignites the detritus!

"huh" he observes

"Stick that lid on! Or stand around bein' useless!"

"I hear ya" He bellows back and does so. It would seem he doesn't take offense, he's a nocker too

"Right!" More smoke gouts out as Wudlig deprives the barrel of oxygen.

And Thistle reaches to pull another pot from the kiln!

"OPEN!" She bellows.

With deft hands he does so "You got a big mouth for a fledge" But this is not an insult

"Ya'll came in." In goes the pot, followed by more tinder.

"Y'all? It's just me.." Wudlig humphs but even as he assists, he makes note of the confidence she's showing in her methods . Griping bout lingo is just a way to ease pressure "I mean, can one visitor be a 'y'all'"

Snort!

"Close!"

No time to mince words - she seems set on getting a half-dozen pieces into the bin while they are that shade of yellow-orange.

And so it goes - hot, sweaty, smoky work.

Grumblilngs and mublings at the least, but when a bellow (that is an order) comes it's followed

But when the last piece goes in, the fledge grins. "Cool. Thanks."

"Furkin welcome" he says "Interesting to watch."

She sets the tongs aside, and crouches to pick up the shattered pieces of the dropped pot. Though it's still glowing, she handles it with only gloves... gloves that have a tingle of glamour.

"It's raku. You get cool glazes you can't get any other way."

"Not sure I ever tried a Raku, looks like a 'throw in the everything and the kitchen sink, set it on fire and move fast' kind of style"

"Everything is better with fire, ain't it?" She casually examines the shards.

"Ha... it aint' boring" he admits "I tend to work carpentry , not always friendly to fire, but I've made some clay boxes with hidden parts. Never Raku though Mmm"

"Just wait a sec..." She uncovers the barrel and waves at the smoke.

He reaches into his pocket, and pulls out what looks like a ballpoint pen, but then he clicks it, and a small fan pops out and starts to blow

"The technique is super old. 16th-century Japanese." She reaches in and grabs a small bowl. "See? You get true metallics, and then all these crackles.... I embedded some horsehair in this one, because it'll burn up, too, and make designs..."

"Horse hair? Hey... the baron will probably LOVE that idea"

"Well, yeah, like... all the horses here, that's why I thought I'd try it?"

"Good thinking... when you get a patron, you got to know how to hook them by integrating what they love into theme or function. Keeps the resources flowing"

"Yeah, maybe. These are just... tests... like.."

"Huh, well, it doesn't suck. It's chaotic, but not Slap dash... "

Clearly slapdash is to be avoided to the meticulous crafter of hidden ways and spaces

A conflicted expression.

"It's just... I'm just tryin' it out to see how it works."

She sets the bowl down ("Don't touch, it's hot!" to a Never) and goes to retrieve the others.

"Mmm yeah, seems to be promising"

He nods

One is more scorched than colorful, and another has cracked in two. "Always a gamble, glazing."

"You gotta get the kiln over 1500 Fahrenheit for Cone Six, and sometimes shit just fails."

"Drek happens" A nod "Even with the furking pros. I once had an assignment to build a wooden compartment in a ship. Didn't know the idiot was going to sail in ARCTIC waters...wrong components for intense cold"

"Especially if it cools too fast and y'get quartz inversion... see how grainy it is here?" She points at an edge.

His mask makes a whirring sound "Oh yeah, I see it"

"Impurities in the clay." She shrugs. "Pottery is part science, gotta be."

"Bone up on your chemistry class if you aren't already" A nod

"I do okay."

She carefully sets up the pieces on a row of bricks to cool.
