"Hey now."

"It's a pinky promise. You hook pinkies if you really mean something."

Art waves a hand at the Never, who giggles and zips off. He hooks his finger with hers. "The pact is sealed." He says with certainty.

A tingle of magic like an electrical static shock runs up both of their arms!

Startled. "WHat was that?"

Art looks surprised too! He looks at his hand, flexing the fingers. "I'm... not sure?"

"MAGIC pinky promise."

"Maybe Marigold would know."

"Marigold IS wise." He nods.

"And makes good cookies."

A grin. "And NEVER makes Tuna helper!"

A shark-toothed grin. "Yeah."

He looks over at her, and grins a bit.

"You have a leaf hanging off your ear...."

"Yeah. The Nevers thought I needed decoration."

And she relates the Leaf-War and the Hattening.

He laughs! "Those little guys really like you, huh."

"Yeah. I think... I think it's the hair?"

"You think so? That hairdresser satyr has dyed hair too, and they never bothered her... um. Them. I got a chance to talk to them for a bit - did you know they have a treasure that's a hairbrush that changes their hair color? But they weren't putting it up for auction, it's a personal one."

"Oh, wow, that'd be furkin' baller..."

"I still need to try out the gloves."

"I thought if we went by Dark Gate, maybe they'll let you see their forge?"

A friwn.

"Hey, wanna come by my place? I can teach you video games."

Puzzled. "How will you try out the gloves that way?"

"Won't... but, like, you can catch up on human stuff, and that's important, too..."

"And maybe Mom'll get a pizza?"

"Pizza?" That perks him up. "Sure, but then next time, we can check out the Fortress? If you don't want to take Gertie that far, I bet we can get Linnea to give us a ride. I hear she's sweet on the boss there."

A mumbled response that sounds enough like agreement to hopefully settle him.

"And pizza, for sure."

He looks a bit thoughtful, but nods. "Sure. I can go over the homework with you too."

Pizza, and video games, and maybe homework... if they have time. Not a bad afternoon after all...
