The hunk of metal is now leav-shaped, with a point and tapering edges.

It would be WISE to move to tempering.

"You see that? Smell it? Hear the change in the metal?"

"Time to temper."

"...that's..." A face, and then she makes the right choice - blade back into the fire, to heat it back up.

As it heats up to red, she glances at Willy to confirm.

A very small expression of what might, in a good light, be faint approval.

She pulls it out, letting it cool down to grey in the air.

Heat, cool, heat, cool... another look, checking in.

Seems ok.....

One last heat and then she plunges the knife into the bucket of oil. A rather impressive gout of smoke!

"Lessee." Willy slides off the stool and ambles over.

It's... well, it's a first attempt. It IS blade shaped.

Thistle wipes are her face with the back of her hand. "It's wonky."

"Yep!" cheerfully, especially for her "Good work."

"But..." She frowns.

"What?"

"It's not right. Look, it's kinda.. twisty?"

"Nope! It's damn near a corkscrew, but so what? You made a thing. Next time you'll make it better. You hungry?"

"...Starved, actually."

"S'eat." She leads the way out and locks the shop up tight.

Thistle follows Willy out.

And they might smell food from the hold

Willy leads the younger nocker to the kitchen backdoor.

The smell of coffee.. and Pasta bake?

"Could probably make metal brackets for amphora that way... if Julius is gonna do the wine thing for posh peeps..."

"Like, maybe in copper or bronze?"

"Could do, yeah. Copper and bronze is pretty soft, though."

"Hey you two," Gwen looks over as hey enter the kitchen "I was just heating up a Pasta bake. You want some?"

"I'd eat a boiled boot right now."

"So I guess pasta would do."

"I could eat."

"Well, it's a lot better than a boiled boot.." And Gwen's ggloved hands arre soon cutting out some generous shares for both on plates "One for you, and one for you.. three types of cheeses. "

"Cheeeese."

"Thanks." she takes her plate and grabs some flatwear.

Thistle is soot-smeared and smells of metal, smoke and fire. She plunks down in one of Marigold's clean chairs!

"You're welcome" She winces. She'll have to cleann the chairs

Willy leans against a counter to eat.

"So what have you two been up to?"

"Work."

"Mm-hmm." She agrees, as she wolfs down the plate of pasta.

"good work?" She asks

"Nope!"

"Pretty much sucks." Willy agrees. "Break a few, right, Shells?"

"Riiiight" A smile
