Thistle lurks near Willy's workshop. She knows better than to go in. But.. nah, see, she's just reading under a tree.

"HEY." Oops. Willy was looking for -her-? She sure is approaching. "You!"

Hands up. "I wasn't in your space!"

"Yeah, yeah, ya breathin' my oxygen." Willy stands over her "What ya readin'?"

"Frankenstein. It's for school, but it's pretty good."

"Ain't like the movie."

"Yeah. So what's your craft? What do you make?"

She scowls down at the book.

"Uh. I heard nockers can fix stuff, too. I can fix stuff. Help out around the apartment, Mom's useless at *&^% like that. I take care of her."

"What stuff do you fix, then? Like that kitchen thing?" It was in a kitchen, it must be a kitchen thing.

Shrug.

"Whatever. Kitchen stuff, wires, plumbing. Shit breaks."

"Well, ya'll new. Might be you'll find a specialty after you settle in." Willy considers "Whatcha fix so far?"

"At home?"

"I mean, the landlord's a schmuck. He doesn't do shit. Slapped on paint like that makes the jumped-up junk alright. Whole joint was made in the 70s, ain't been proper fixed since, and was cheap then. So it's always something, right?"

"Like -what-?" the metalworker asks, almost patiently. Well, patiently for her.

She rubs the back of her neck. "I rehung the medicine cabinet, and fixed the toilet when it wouldn't stop running, and replaced that bullshit outlet that kept tripping - we aren't supposed to touch electrical, but it had been MONTHS - and, like, just.. stuff? There's always stuff."

"You can usually google how to fix things."

"Yeah, but you knew what you needed to do -before- you did that, right? Somehow, you had an instinct."

"I mean, I had ideas. I'm usually pretty good with mechanical stuff. I did a lot of work on my scooter - she was at the junkyard, I got her running."

"HA!"

"Yeah." Willy nods "Ok. So ya'll got that going for ya." she looks around, snorts "C'mon. Tired a' standin'." she turns and tromps back to her workshop. Since it's right handy there.

A hesitation, then she follows. "Yeah. So. That's what nockers do. I don't need to make stuff."

"PFFT!"

"Girl, don't you know NOTHIN'??"

A few Nevers have followed Thistle into the workshop, chiming softly and hovering. "I don't know a lot about this. But I know plenty."

Willy tromps in, leaving the door to the HOT room open, and gets two mugs. Or cups. There are some paper ones. She dumps coffee in them.

One of the little sillies sticks it's nose over the cup, then sneezes with a sparkle of pixie dust, and recoils. That is NOT good drinking! Where's the sugar?!

"It's coffee. You want sugary stuff, go to Starbucks."

All three nevers chime in excitement. One of them tugs at Trina's collar! They LIKE this idea.

"We are not going to Starbucks."

Hurt tones!

Grumble that might sound like "later."

They settle a bit. One flies off to the pegboard where hammer are hung and starts playing a game of hopping from one handle to the next.

Sigh.

Sip.

Willy slurps.

"Ok." she hoicks herself up onto a stool "Questions."

"Um."

"What d you think of this place? How do.. how do nockers fit in with the hobbits and the goats and the elves?"

A shrug. "Ah got work today, no time to be flittin' 'round with them. Sometimes gotta go be seen, sure, but...."

"Oh..."

"So we... just don't? Baron said we weren't servants, but.. are we?"

A snort. "Everyone is. But Them." a shrug "BUT it gives you time and resources for your OWN work, so it's ok."

She scowls. "I don't wanna be a servant. I mean, they're.. (*^%R(.. it's hard to think straight around them, sure... but..."

"And I know, like, Art was the important one. What I gather is I popped cause he did."

"I guess I'm not sure what the point of being... this? Is? We're just here for them?"

"That's what they think, an' if ya'll want to get anywhere, an' get resources an' stuff for your projects, you'll let 'em think so."

Her spirals shift blue. "Yeah? Gotcha."

"What's with the technicolor cheeks?"
