"I do not know," He admits, "We can be prickly, perhaps the Baroness Nadeen could send a diplomaticlly worded missive of us on his lands and why?"

She withholds a sigh. "I suppose I could do so." A little annoyed, but she tempers it with, "...thank you. It is a good suggestion."

"She has many contacts with the House, more than I and more social skills or I would do it myself, queen of my sky. I will however be with you in this. I am owed for my service, and you are owed just being who you are. And I would aid the young delight flight regardless. Call me again when you are ready, but hook or crook I shall find us one who can pass the barriers of distance in a blink"

"I know I can rely on you." A statement that carries more than the simple words, a trust that the Ailil seldom give. With that, she finishes the call and pockets her phone, bracing herself to step out into the garden and speak to the Baroness.

She finds Nadeen working over papers , her face focused in study, but when she looks up, "Ah, Chancellior. How fare you?"

She cuts straight to the chase. "I have need of your assistance."

That causes the Varich to put her papers away. Need? That's.. interesting, "Please, continue" She motions to a seat near her for the Dame to join her

She slides into the chair. "An important task I must undertake leads me to lands controlled by the Varich. I have been advised that your connection may... smooth passage into the Duchy of Sunstone and allow me to do what I must."

"Sunstone?" Nadeen ponders this, "I do have a connection there, not the strongest but on good terms. What is this 'must' you feel you must do? The Count there will be curious"

If it irks her that she must justify herself to Nadeen, she doesn't let it show as she slides a phone across to Nadeen, letting her see the article. Once the Baroness looks up from the information, Calanthe adds, "Sir Sergei and I believe that between our hawks to track down nests and winter magics to cool the area, we may be able to save many of the unfledged chicks."

A pause, and she says, reluctant now, "It may require some time - they should be within a few weeks of fledging but - I will not know until I have seen with my own eyes. If so, I needs must ask you once again to take on some of my duties."

Nadeen looks surprised, then "Of course you would aid them. There are times, Chancellior, I find myself.. impressed by you in ways I Do not think either of us expected. By all means, I'll make some calls immediately and call in a minor favor. I think you will be well received indeed for this cause. Most Varich feel ties to the land, the Count no doubt sees mortal folly as an insult to his will. Tell me what needs be done with your birds here and how you wish it done, please. I'll tend. Of course, the baron will want to know, but if you wish, I will lend my voice to yours in this. "

Calanthe looks relieved, some tension out of her shoulders and expression. "They are just mortal birds... but they do not deserve to suffer so. If I knew an Aesin willing to lend a hand, that would be even better, as they could speak to them, let the parents know that their fledges would be returned... As such, I will do what I can."

A glance at Nadeen, and she adds, "Unseelie or no, it does not escape my knowledge that I shall be in your debt."

"I know an Aeisen, a knight, Doomwind of Teaneck. She is no friend to me but she is to the Chief. " realization "I can entreat her as well. As for the debt, well, I'd be lying to say I discard it. You are a woman of resources. However I am not such a cad that I shall hold innocent birds hostage to my ambition lightly. IT's..." She wrinkles her nose "Tacky. Fear not. This could have gains for us after all ... you show the best of SIlver Wolf there , and perhaps the Count will speak well of us "

"The Chief is no friend of mine." She says, stating what may be obvious. A pause, and she says, "Perhaps I was... hasty in thinking that a Reeve might not be necessary." Which may be as close to a compliment as she has given Nadeen.

"True but she is a friend of mine and I will endeavor to use that for your sake if you wish, " A nod "And perhaps while we will take our barbs from each other other from time to time, I should realize that you are not so easily labeled as the villainess in my tale, as I suspect I maybe in yours." A beat "mind you, we both look magnificent in black. We have that in common"

A pause, and she responds, "THAT, I cannot deny."

"Now , give me an hour and I'll bring you news of how it progresses, oh, and for goodness sake, tell Marigold, if she finds out you slipped out and no one told her I'll hear no end of mmmphs and hurt looks my way when she finds out I knew"

"I shall. Though in doing so, I may well double the burden of travel, as she will wish to requisition supplies for an army."

"Noblise Oblige, they teach us about it, but don't often mention the boggan clause" Yes, Nadeen actually sounds sympathetic

A nod, and she heads to the kitchen.

And Nadeen goes to make calls. Weeks without Calanthe? I would welcome it, so how come I'm not feeling triumphant?
